Glad to hear you`ll be happy to allow us our Monarchy ....As for the movement being away try telling that to the Monarchist MAJORITY..
I speak as a republican, LS, you should know that by now. I'm not in favour of monarchies anywhere, but will admit to a historical dislike of the British version.
Odd, most places in the world are not establishing monarchies, but ridding themselves of them. Why keep an expensive institution of wasters who serve no function? Boot them out, let them get real jobs, take most of their land and money, gotten off the backs of the people through the centuries, and redestribute it.
Um, yes this is called a democracy. Inconvenient, isn't it? And one of the things I do love about US.
That being said, thankfully the monarchy has little or no real power anymore (much more to worry about from a power hungry PM like Thatcher) - so, this being true, why not can the lot of them? They serve no purpose.
The Monarchy has absolute power, the power to say NO.........
And I think the US should have a Monarchy ...But there is about as much chance of that happening in the foreseeable future as there is us losing ours...Luckily..
They will do again soon mate, as soon as we revoke the independance of the USA and return it to its rightfull owner....HM Queen Elizabeth II
Okay--the lineage of the royal family is either German or Austrian right? If not then why did they stop using the German name during WWII?
Queen Elizabeth II is British, both her perants were British and her grandparents were British. She does have some German ancestry through her great great grandfather, Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, however, to say she is German because if this is a bit of a stretch. The Royal family changed their name in the world war from Saxe-coburg-gotha as it was a German surname as per the Kings ancetry to Windsor to make it British.....GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
