Counting the days til' my job transfer (to Oxnard). Thinking about how much I loved Ventura and the surrounding areas. I have been all around SoCal and Ventura is by far the best area that I would want to call home. Hopefully 2011 will be the year

jc76, I love Ventura County, too. SoCal (general region spanning from Santa Barbara to San Diego, I'm open-minded), Austin, Fort Worth, Houston, and Raleigh-Durham are my top areas for relocation from the Midwest. And I've interviewed by phone so far for jobs in San Diego and Fort Worth and in person down in R-D. All of these are my choices for climatic, regional and professional preferences.

Southern California, however, is my absolute top choice. I particularly like Ventura County and parts of Orange County. You're lucky enough, jc76, to be able to transfer out there. But I see that you've moved out there twice before only to move back to Indiana. Enjoy California, but do try to be more methodical and economical in how you approach this move if you want to stay out there. Of course, Indiana will always be open to come back to and is a very safe, stable sort of place, but I understand the desire to live in one of the world's most truly beautiful regions.

I moved back due to my Mom taking a couple turns for the worse, I came back to help here. But that was almost 2 years ago and she has since passed. How it's time I move on.

Thanks! We're headed for midtown Ventura, very close to the Pacific View mall. We've moved all over southern Cal, most recently in the Valley but previously in Orange County.

Many zip codes and area codes under our belts (quite embarrassing actually) - looking to finally settle and truly rid ourselves of moving boxes. Here's to hoping!
