Actually the ice isn't as far East as Greenland just yet.

According to that map distance from edge of ice is around 1600 miles to west coast of Ireland.

You can see the cold airmass coming in oot west on sat24. Definately looks very unstable and potent. Woop woop. I love these cold spells from the north when i get constant showers. I remember one time when they clumped up into a band and it snowed all day.

Default Snow total departures 2012-13 so far

Here's a list I put together in case anyone is interested. It's been snowy for some, its been snowless for some. Very hard to please everyone I guess.

The question for everyone is... does anything surprise you on this list?

For me its the fact that Buffalo has 3 feet of snow and still 42% below normal. lol Also the fact that Bridgport still remains above normal.

Ah, yes, Mount Pocono. Been there many more times than I've been to Scranton. And Mount Pocono is the weather station the media in Philadelphia usually references when giving weather conditions around the region, including the Poconos.

That lake effect snow is in overdrive today here. About an hour north of me they received 10" in 3 hrs this morning. Now it's our turn as the winds have shifted from the NW and bringing it on top of us.

Interesting most southern New England is snow free but to the west and south there is snow. I wonder how/when New Jersey and the NYC region got its snow? Hmm... down all the way to DC.

The first post on this thread has a map updated daily of the extent of sea ice in the Northern Hemisphere:
