Lately my wife and I have been getting into it over the AC. We both love hot weather, but I don't like it any hotter than 80 inside my house when trying to sleep. My wife hates AC, and is perfectly OK with sleeping upstairs in 90 degree heat.

She thinks that the reason I can't handle it is because I'm unhealthy despite the fact that I'm lean and in tremendous shape for a guy my age. I've had company come over in the summer that will literally leave after a few minutes because they can't even handle being in the house, much less sleeping in it.

Is my wife the strange one here? Trying to sleep in 90 degree heat in my bedroom just seem awful to me, and like I said, I love hot weather.

Georgia summer here.
75 for husband 74 for me. That ONE degree makes all the difference in the world.
He tried setting that sucker at 78 in the summer. I just about ate his lunch but good!!!!

Asked him is his life worth living with a cranky menopausal wife and low utility bill or a pleasant menopausAL wife with high utility bill.
He told me to wear less clothing and break out the fans. .
So we compromised at 75.

Is this thread supposed to be sarcastic and I just missed it ?

Who would actually be able to sleep at 90 ?!? 80 is impossible and the only reason I wait with turning AC on at 65'F is the noise. While below 65 is already uncomfortably warm, the AC noise is greater issue. Over 65 'F, I can handle the AC noise...

Right now, it's 69 'F, I have 2 ACs blasting at max, and am seriously thinking of getting third one, as the noise is here anyway...

I think you both would be unhappy here, our bedroom AC goes on set at 65 about 7pm, and stays on all night. I would be unable to sleep at 80, even 70 is too warm. Fortunately we only have to use the AC from mid-July through August here.m

77/76 day and night.....no dramatic swings. House stays cool and comfortable. Keeping it steady keeps the electric bill down.

I only turn on the AC if it's over 85 over very humid. My summer thermostat is set to 78. It's very comfortable.

Ours is at 70 degrees, year round; we’re in Maryland. We like being comfortable and our utilities are reasonable. We usually run a ceiling fan above the bed at night.
