And everything is included in rent such as electric, heat, and maintenance.
NY is getting flexible about HUD interpretations, allowing those with severe disabilities like paralysis to qualify based on need of a facility vs only age & income.
My grandmothers senior complex has a few now, but they don't enjoy the sense of community the seniors have with one another being of similar generation and life phase.

x1x you will not be the only white person there, U should check out Summersville,
harborlady where did U decide to land in WV? If you said in earlier post I missed it.
LSR did you look at S'ville, I know you have family near Weirton, but you would still be closer to them from S'ville than you are now.

temporarily- charleston or huntington, about to be decided this month. I need to learn more about WV and I think they'd be good springboards while I'm figuring out a new career for myself.

Long term- rural, but precise location undetermined just now.

I live in Martinsburg WV....2 blocks from the Martinsburg Mall City of Martinsburg Housing Authority # is 304-263-8891.....my landlord. There are 2 6 story housing apts for handicapt & elders plus 3 what they call familly complexes that also have 1 bed apts for any age & health adults. We are also allowed for $200 Pet Deposit a cat or small dog. Reg deposit is $200 plus your 1st months rent which is 30% of your income. But that formaula is a bit off....my son that has no income pays $36 per moth in rent plus electric [lights & cooking] he has gas heat which is covered by rent. He is in a 1 bedromm in the family section. Now I pay for no utilities my rent is $184 I am in the SR Handicapt apts building which is a mix of 1 bed & effencany [sorry cant spell it...no bed] apts. Mostly white folk but dont know the % as to races.
There are lots of other apts in Martinsburg that rent based on income...I could email the current list to you if you send me your email.

My housing Ath also covers the Morgan/Jefferson & Morgan counties....

I know my aunt lived in an apartment in Elkins. The rent was income-based. Sorry...I don't remember the name and she has since moved to Alaska. Best of luck to 'ya!

Here's a link to senior housing in Cabell County (Huntington area). It lists several different places so if you are considering this area to settle in, this should have most of the contacts you would be looking for. Hope this helps.
