I worked with a bunch of boneheads who just didn't "get it" when the H.R. woman told everyone AND had them sign a statement saying they understood that pornagraphy was prohibited on company property and on company computers. SHE COULD NOT HAVE MADE IT ANY CLEARER. She stated that anything you would not want a 10 year old to see was probably going to violate the policy.
Apparently these guys thought hard core pornagraphy was acceptable. We had a "shared" computer in the shop office and during breaks these guys would sit around and look at hard core porn they e-mailed into their accounts (as I said, these guys were idiots).
Of course they did an audit and found over 50 people out of a staff of 200 had porn on their computers. This is where it pisses me off- We were told we would be fired. Since there were managers involved NOBODY got fired, they were just given suspensions. THESE SUSPENSION WERE RIGHT AT BONUS TIME so they did not really get "punished". In addition, guess who had to work overtime to cover for these perverts? Yup, the people who FOLLOWED THE RULES.
I kept telling them they were going to get busted. They didn't understand how. One day I walked in and they were watching a porn movie with a man/woman going at it. I said " Just to be sure, which one of those people on the screen gets you excited, it seems to me there is just as much chance you are worked up about the guy...."
There are gay men who play professionial football, baseball, wrestling, etc - a lot more than you could ever realize... It's ludricous to imply that men who don't like mind-numbing ball play must not like female anatomy.
I hate sports...I really do....I hate to hear about them and I hate to talk about them. I hate to mention the very word. I hate to think how they're so admired for doing something so silly. And I hate watching sweaty men in tight pants grabbing each others' asses while running their balls up and down a field. How homoerotic me thinks!
I don't get into sports and might be considered an oddball in Wisconsin in that I hate football. They are all crazy about football here. My husband doesn't care much about sports either. He does love cars and can talk about that a lot, but he talks about many other topics.
If a person can only talk about one topic all the time, then I consider that person dull. It seems that food is a pretty popular topic with most people. At least in any place I've ever worked. Everybody likes to eat, so it's a pretty safe topic. Music and bands is another good topic unless you don't have the same taste in music, but I hang out with a lot of local band members and music fans so maybe that's why I like that topic.

What is frustrating about talking about music is that people try to interpret your personality based on your musical preferences. In my case, music that I like is often based more on my association with particular songs, rather than the content of the song itself, so people do not accurately judge my personality based on my music preferences. That is why I avoid talking about music at all costs.
I am a 26 year old male and much prefer working with women over men. From my experience, men tend to have more egos and lack any sort of emotion whatsoever. All they want to talk about is sports, and I HATE sports! I don't know anything or care about anything related to sports. I can have better conversations with women about life in general. Of course, that's not to say all men are like that. There are exceptions. For example, my department consists of 9 men (including myself) and 6 women. Of the 9 men, I only really connect well with about 3 of them. Of the women, I connect well with all of them. Is something wrong with me? Or do other people have the same experiences working with men?
Again, the primary reason I hate working with men is that they want to talk about sports 100% of the time, and it pisses me off.
I love working with men. I also love talking about sports. I hate working with other women. Catty bs and talking about boring girl s*it I cant relate to allll damn day
I just tell other men (I'm a guy too) that I don't watch sport X much. I could care less.
Then ill wear my Columbus Blue Jackets tee shirt to work. People will ask if I caught the game last night. Ill tell them no....I don't watch hockey. They then ask why I wear this shirt. I then tell them I got it on sale or reduced price for $3. Who knows what they think after that. Quality shirt for $3.....it could say "Turd Sandwhich" on it.
Well I don't get to talk about sports anymore because I work with 95% women who are all over 50.
That's the only thing I don't like about this new job
I know lots of women who like sports - or they're pretending well that they do (unless they just like looking at sweaty men in tight pants?? for sexual thrills and kicks).
I know a man who wants "to talk" to his wife all night long; whereas all she wants to do is watch hockey or football with a cold beer in her hands.
