I've graduated high school a year ago. I can't get a job. I've looked everywhere and applied, but nothing. I can't go to college because my family can't afford it, and I got a low GPA in school, so this blows many options. I even looked at scholarships (most were only open to high school seniors), and grants (most were for adults returning to school. You have to be at least 25 for those). My parent's won't fill out for financial aid because the classes I have to take aren't at college level (numbered below the 100 level). I can't get a loan because I have no credit. Neither my parents because they have bad credit (my dad u.e. for one year).

Can you please help?

Join the military. You'll get paid, a place to stay, be fed, learn new skills, see the world and be able to take advantage of the GI Bill for school when you get out.

Go talk to the financial aid office in a community college in your area and ask them what options you have. Your financial aid application would need your parents financial information. Tell your parents you need that so you can try to qualify for any grants or loans that would be available. You can sign to repay those loans they are student loans, your parents wouldn't have to sign for them. All of this would need you and your parents to provide info on the FAFSA.

The military is one option. It's not for everyone, but it can be a good opportunity for some, especially compared to other choices.

Have you tried applying for every job? Even disgusting, miserable jobs? What about janitorial jobs? What about McDonald's? What about convenience stores on the graveyard shift? Try to find something, even if it's not fun.

Have you gone to apply at your community college? Have you considered learning a trade like plumbing or some sort of repair?

Another thought is to make a trip to the department of labor and see what help they can give.

I recommend your local community college to get you on the right road. Have you also tried fast food/waitering/walmart, etc?

I'm not entirely sure I'm ready to make the life long commitment

Yes, I applied to grocery stores, fast food restaurants, etc. I never hear from them. They say if you don't get a reply, then that means you didn't get the job.

I can't afford it, neither can my family. Yes I've applied.

The Military is not a life long commitment. It's 4 years I believe.

Many community colleges offer free or reduced tuition to students who qualify.
