Your 401k, medical insurance among other things are all tied to your employment, that's why there are so many phycological issues these days with peoples entire identities being tied to their jobs. We are modern day indentured servants.
None of that is new, it used to be pensions. Obamacare is the first thing that allowed for some independence from employer based insurance but that is at risk. Now employers want your dna and to dictate your personal habits or price you out.

Telling companies that they have to have a quota number of Americans that they have to hire is pretty much affirmative action. Once again, not a good idea.

Even telling companies that they have to search for domestic talent first...that's unnecessary regulation...but it's something most companies do anyways.

The level of socialist policies being advocated by many of you is mind-numbing

There was no issue with the H-1B guy's performance - he was competent in that role and succeeded in the company. The problem was that there were plenty of citizens qualified for the role, and he should have never been sponsored in the first place.
Exactly.

There are variety of reasons the H-1B is that spot and it's usually one of few reason either the person is well connected with other H-1Bs from the same agency or stock. Salary considerations, H-1Bs are cheaper even at managerial level due to the limit of the visa. Other backdoor deals, for example some H-1Bs for very high demanding roles demand their spouse get sponsored. Very common for many Asian countries to use H-1B status for a quick entry for even executive level worker with offshore pay.

This is why the H-1B needs to be cancelled but there are other visas given out to rich immigrants.

Okay, so don't complain that you can't find talent.

Fair enough?

Get used too it, if you want to do business in the USA or import/export things to the USA why shouldn't you have to hire the citizens of the market you are exploiting?

Now if you operate out of china and export to india, no problem don't hire Americans but the moment you export a single good or service to the USA why shouldn't you pay a hefty tariff to subsidize an American you put out of work?

Why should the people of the USA allow you to exploit them?

It is not socialist by any stretch of the imagination to limit immigration.

The H1B visa system is being abused, such that 15 of the top 20 companies that employ the most H1B's are actually "consulting" firms.

If companies are unwilling to put some skin in the game, they lose all right to complain.

Facecrap, Gaggle and Microshoft all abuse the H1B programs.
These so-called American companies discriminate against Americans.
