Two years ago, I received an official form from my town's public works department. In somewhat prominent places the word PERMANATLY is printed. Farther down on the paper is: PERMANANT. Following my typical behavior when I sent in the filled out form, I corrected the misspelled words. There is no way my red marks could be missed. In today's mail, I see nothing has changed. The department must have had a huge number of copies available and didn't want them to go to waste since the old way is still in use.
I think I can top that!
About 20 years ago, I noticed that the official form that was used as an academic report card for students in my school district who were receiving Home Instruction had a misspelling on it. The word "attitude" was spelled as "attidtude".
I phoned the secretary who was essentially in charge of that department, in order to inform her of this...embarrassing...mistake on a form that the district mailed to many parents each year, and her response was, "Are you sure that's not the way to spell it?" I assured her that the word was misspelled, and urged her to consult a dictionary if she doubted me.
Well, you may have guessed the outcome of my efforts. When I retired, about 10 years later, that form was still in use--complete with the same misspelling. During that time, not one parent ever mentioned the mistake to me, and apparently I was the only person to complain about it.

What an embarrassment!
Yes. definitely an embarrassment, as is my example. One of my pet peeves is for someone to claim their example is better than mine when I think both are equal. LOL Mine is an embarrassment to a town and yours to a school. : eek:

If I offended you, I apologize, but I think that this type of mistake on an official form from a school district is just a bit more egregious than a similar error on a form from a municipal government.
Both types of errors are surely bad, however.
"Ok, to make YOU feel better, if he's disposed for civil charges, which thete are, he can take the 5th ammenment." - someone who fancies herself a lawyer, I guess?
I find myself sitting here pondering the validity of your question mark.

Not in any way did you offend me. I posted what I think and was not in an offended state. Trust me. Just because I disagree with someone does not mean I'm offended. lolol
