Well it took a while, but I'm sure I have the answer:

The name of the first hotel in the world to use electric lamps in every room was called the Inter-Ocean Hotel and it was located in Cheyenne, WY. It is now known as the Hynds Building. It was built and owned by Barney Ford.

BINGO! Well, I'm assuming your last two sentences are correct. So it's still there, eh? It's good to know that. My information puts it at around 1873, but that could be off by a year or two.

I picked up that little tidbit from The Works of Hubert Howe Bancroft (History of Nevada, Colorado and Wyoming), published in 1890. Lots of interesting reading.

Another URL for some good reading about Wyoming: The History of Wyoming by C. G. Coutant, published 1899.

I've gotta stop all this reading about Wyoming or I'll never get any work done! Anyway, it's your bat, Wyoquilter.

Hey! Thanks You all for the Birthday greetings. My oldest daughter was planning on throwing a down and dirty over the hill party for me, but thankfully she changed her mind and kept it family friendly.

Okay, this one will probably be an easy one, I would try and do a hard one, but I've got a bunch of stuff I need to get done before Sat. and I don't have time to look up a hard one.

So here it goes:

What was the first book printed in WY and what year was it printed?

I've been watching you guys having all this fun.

The Lahcotah/Lakota Dictionary in the late 1860s. Don't remember the year for sure. Hubby had a meeting in WY last Sept, and someone mentioned it on the bus trip.

You are correct it was the Souix Dictionary, the year was 1866. I'll give you that one. Now it is your turn to ask a question.
