I am under 45 years old,
I love the outdoors,
I hunt wild game,
I am a Republican reformer,
I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,
I have many children,
I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less
than two years in the governor's office.

Did you guess?

I am Teddy Roosevelt in 1900.

Hmmm...so Sarah Palin is not qualified but Obama is?

Politicaly I'm registered as a Republican but I vote Libertarian.
There are a lot of email chains floating around out there with stuff about Palin, Obama etc. The timing is not coincidental and the stretching of truth, taking things out of context etc. in them is fairly common.

I would view any such "e-mails" with a grain of salt. I have had to direct my parents (die-hard republican) to snopes.com on several occasions so far after they mailed me anti-obama garbage.

I would check with snopes.com

Keep in mind that the particular email being discussed is a news digest, not a chain mail letter.

Further, not one word of it has been disputed or in any way shown untrue. It cites specific court cases, and is not without valid documentation of every single claim it makes.

This is what I was talking about on our subistence way of life compared to sport hunting. This information is available on the AST Site. This is why we don't like sport hunters!

I don't hunt and don't know Alaska law regarding hunting so please excuse my foolish question.

If a hunter is only interested in antlers, can he donate/give the meat to some one who wants it?

I was suggesting that when getting political emails it doesn't hurt to run them through snopes FIRST. That's all.

OK. Would there be a benefit to allowing this? I know that in the -48 there are years when there is such a surplus of deer that not thinning out the herd via hunting would lead to starvation for the animals.

I recognize that hunting in Alaska may be different. Are moose and other animals hunted for their meat in large enough numbers that giving away or donating their meat by 'recreational' hunters to persons who want it is not needed? i'm sure there are Alaskans who can no longer hunt for whatever reason who would be grateful for the donation.

My sons' friends who hunt always remember me when it comes to dividing up their 'haul' and I am soooo grateful!
