Don't be coy, I was talking about Christianity which is basically the New Testament. The OT is Jewish. There was a significant evolution for violence to non-violence. Do not play the naive on purpose (popularized by Petunia). The non-violence of Christianity was one of the reasons it became so popular, it was different.

You are recycling old phrases. Those countries would still be poor if never colonized. The Western nations are full of immigrants form the former colonies. Many were granted that privilege and the last thing these people want to do is to go back home. Why do you think Muslim prefer cultures based on Judeo-Christian values? Why was that Muslim family attending your Western school Virginia? Why would a Muslim want to live in a majority Christian nation? Think about it. Christian nations tend to be more inclusive and accept diversity.

Another one playing the naive role. There is no God! What changed was the concept of God. You can only blame people. BTW in times BC all cultures of the world were barbarians.

These were taught in the BC in Eastern religions. Historical evidence is a poor method to prove any truth about Christianity. It is simply the truth in Jesus’s teachings that matter. He might have studied the Vedas when he was roaming.

Yes and they bring their religion with them and the US constitution protects their freedom to practice it. They did not leave their religion behind and become atheist. Christianity was spread by violence and crusades. Other religions mind their own business.

Christianity is not known for non violence. The term ahimsa is from vedic and Jain texts, preceding Buddhism which also teaches the same. Centuries before Jusus adopted the ideas to teach his disciples. That is the reason to worship Jesus for the knowledge he brought the people of the desert. The pity is how much they forgot.

Iraq had a large population of Christians who felt protected and practiced their religion in their churches before Bush and his thugs started bombing the country. After that destruction the Christians had to flee in the chaos and aftermath. Christians bring chaos and destruction, always have.

It's sort of like when I've gone to a funeral, sat and listened to all the plaudits being given, and think to myself who they heck are they talking about. Look at the good, look at the bad...see the whole person or institution.

Orson Scott Card wrote an excellent book about this topic. It is called "Speaker for the dead". The speaker researches the deceased individual and tells the "true" story of their life, good and bad. Great read.

Not only is there little evidence that Christianity was popular until the 2nd century AD, Paul had to tell his church to not fight back. And he only did this because he was expecting the end of times, not because he was a pacifist.

We also know there were other sects of Christianity, although we do not know what they taught, so we can not claim all sects of Christianity were pacifists.

We do know Jewish sects like the Therapeutae were pacifists before Christianity had even began, they also practiced humility and had an ascetic lifestyle.

And Christianity was in decline in NW Turkey around 110 AD, and this may have been the same for the rest of the Roman empire, which would explain the low number of documents from that time. it may not have become popular until the gospels were written, and Judaism became less popular (and therefore Jewish Christianity and it's circumcision and no bacon policy).
