The area around the Dunwoody station is already en route to becoming precisely that, if you count the State Farm campus and other nearby developments.

Can you please clarify this comment? This could be interpreted in a number of ways, some of them not so good.

Just get your fare jumpers to pay, cut the corruption in your procurement departments (boy, would we like to do a lifestyle audit on THEM!....any takers at the IRS???).....their answer, like most governmental agencies, is to raise fares and taxes to pay for it. For part of that, I agree. However, UNLIKE most governmental agencies, let's have an outside engineering firm design, bid, and show OPEN TRANSPARENCY to the public that is going to have to pay for it. Kickbacks and all.

How about an open spreadsheet showing where every penny is coming, and going. While definitely not fool proof, at least it will make it harder for the thieves at MARTA to do their work.

Whoa! Wait! That's infringing upon their closed-door policies! Can't do that!

You'll see it someday, when all the "contributions" have been lined up. Until then? Lip service.....Releasing the reins of some of that power and actually holding decision makers accountable would be something. One can only hope the newest CEO has the temerity to do just that but, man, has HE got a lot of fiefdoms to navigate. We wish you well.

Start with that lifestyle audit. Arrest, convict, and put away the bad middle-managers you have and give the system a chance. And stop those proverbial fare jumpers. It's costing US plenty.

Who is the "they" in "their answer"? MARTA isn't raising fares, *nobody* is offering to raise taxes on MARTA's behalf, and they're currently taking massive amounts of grief over their efforts to stop fare evasion.
