It reasons if Northern cities could get new stadiums built in-city and stay, or some older stadiums kept and restored? ATLANTA ..... could have kept a NEW stadium there too.

Heck, even the Chicago Cubs owners were lured to suburbs with FREE LAND to build. They used it as leverage with the city to gain additions they wanted to construct. But in the end? That city had VALUE and the stadium itself to to remain and invest there to gain more decades from the current stadium. Even the Chicago White Sox chose to rebuild where they were.

It reasons? Atlanta's politicians or the cities VALUE to the franchise owners? Were not great enough to prevent this psible mistake? But any mistake seen ..... will be mainly if profits were hurt. Not merely attendance. The stadium is STILL IN THE METRO and Atlanta city limits are not that great to see it as too far from the core. So not like it left the city entirely.

They had great crowds all weekend against the Diamondbacks. Went there on Sunday and had a great time. They've now moved up to number 12 in MLB attendance

Yep. And with 41,000+ crowds for both Cubs games, the average continues to inch up. Of course there were 20,000 Cubs fans there (as usual and I'm sick of it), so that helps.

Of course the defending world champs would attract crowds.

Cubs have been attracting those kind of crowds down here for decades.

The STP / Battery ads on Atl Biz Cron are really getting heavy handed. There is a new article like this every other week but no real new news in them, just puff pieces. The only real updates they have are that they are 70% leased in phase I of the Battery and still no firm plans for the kick off for phase two where they are still looking for a large office tenant.

Leadoff: Braves draw 240,000 fans in six days

Quote:
For the season, the Braves’ home attendance (defined by MLB as tickets sold) has reached 1.52 million, an average of 31,755 per game, up 39 percent from the same point last season. The stadium also has hosted two sold-out concerts.

Bad day for the Braves haters.
