Do those of you who live in Circle C feel like the new Alamo has impacted traffic in & out? I've been to the Alamo a few times, and I've seen big traffic buildups on Slaughter going to Mopac on a Saturday. Since I don't live in Circle C, I'm not sure if this sort of traffic is normal, or it's a new thing due to the Alamo.

The Circle C Hive Mind (aka facebook group) is full of people griping about the traffic and having to park pretty far away during peak times. But then, it's also full of people griping about how their super convenient grocery store is also packed during peak hours, and how (gasp) some of them have to go more than a mile away to an alternate grocery store. Suburbia will gripe.

Yep. I was kind of blown away by the Escarpment HEB complaints. It's hard for me to comprehend the entitlement mindset of some of the people that live here. Fortunately, those people seem to be in the minority. I mean the traffic is bad, but it's bad everywhere in Austin.

Remember you're getting a skewed set of people - Circle C has thousands of residents but only a handful are active posters on FB. Coming from NYC (where you walked or had groceries delivered) and then PA (nearest nice grocery store = 10 miles away) it's tough for me to feel disenchanted about my grocery options, particularly with Whole Pay Check opening not far away.

I'm starting to doubt that TCBY will actually open in June, considerig there is no store-front sign up yet...

Okay, that makes me giggle a bit. True, I don't live in CC proper (just north of it in VOWO), but I have lived there long enough now that I remember when Escarpment did not connect to Slaughter on the north side and there was no Escarpment Village. Yep, HEB gets pretty crowded, but you know what? That keeps the prices reasonable. Also, although there is a short peak time in the afternoons after work during which the checkout lines get to be 3 or 4 long (with 85%+ open), that lasts for about 30-45 minutes (max), then drops back to 1 or 2 people ahead of you.

A co-worker that lives in the same area as me was just joking the other day on how we never needed to leave our little bubble anymore, now that we have a theater .

I have just lived in Circle C for just over a year, but I am not complaining about convenience. I find most things in easy driving distance, and our new Whole Foods will be opening shortly. I have not noticed an increase in traffic due to Alamo, but I don't live off Slaughter. And it is not just suburbia that gripes. Everyone, everywhere seems to grip about traffic and parking. It is a reality of our car-centric society.

Dear Whitney,

Thank you for your follow-up e-mail. It looks like the proposed open date for this store has been pushed back to July 27.
If I can be of any further assistance to you, please let me know.

Thank you for contacting TCBY.
