This thread has become a little stagnant. Anyone know of any other new places that will be in Parkside Village?

If there was ever an overhyped development in Austin this is it. At least there is always Arbor Trails, and SP Meadows within a few miles of this place so dont fret.

Little hyperbolic, don't you think? This is nothing more than a strip center, anchored by the first purpose built Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, in an area that is purposely undeserved by retail due to COA land use policies. The anticipation is due to excitement over a ground breaking Alano. If your want to call that "overhype", YMMV.

On a positive front, Reid's Cleaners is open and running great coupon specials. Just all my suits and dropped them off.

I would agree. That area does not deserve retail, and it shows.

Speaking of overhyped- that WHole Foods they jsut opened at Mopac/Cannon. How would it possibly serve the 40 thousand peopel living in SW Austin? I've seen convenience stores bigger than this place.

Glad to see that you have appointed yourself God and get to make such decisions. Actually, the decision should be a function of supply and demand. There is more than enough demand - rooftops, demographics, purchasing power, you name it - for there to be a much bigger supply of retail in SW Austin than there is. It is rigid ideologues who want to punish people who made decisions that they don't approve of that make such bigoted statements as "That area does not deserve retail".

The really ridiculous situation that occurs is the houses get built - and continue to get built. But because the narrow minded haters can restrict retail, the solution is that miles and miles are driven to satisfy the demand. Miles which increase the very pollutants the ideologically pure would tell you they detest. 'Cept there is something they detest even more...

I think you're getting hooked for saying 'undeserved' when you meant to say underserved. See #234.

Finally made it to the new Drafthouse a few weeks ago. I really like the table concept but it'd be weird if you go by yourself and have to share a table with a stranger. The parking is severely under built.
