Yes, lots missing from this story. Power works getting in, but not out. Cell phone left in the restaurant. No passers-by to see or hear him. An no thought of the door release, kicking the windows, opening the roof (either to get out or to get some air in). Call me skeptical that something else (medical emergency, passing out for other reasons) didn't happen first.
I support this, the consensus in various forums has been this. He could have just been mentally deficient, worries me that we've got guys like him driving around in these fast cars.
I carry a Kel-Tec P-32 so even if my car was submerged ill always have a way to break the window fast. Old man shoulda been packing! haha

I wonder about this too.
My father in law died in his car in his doctor's parking lot after getting a check up.
Lab guy saw him in the car when he left and thought something was up when he came back and he was still sitting there a few hours later.
My buddy died while sitting at the wheel of his 18 wheeler.
He was supposed to go into the truck stop with some other truckers for breakfast. When he didn't come in one of them went back out to see what was up.
I would have kicked the window out before I just sat there and died.
There is no way a 72 year old could twist himself around to kick the windows in a 2007 Corvette. I doubt anyone past their teen years could do it. And especially not if he was a "Texas" sized guy.
FWIW, I have owned a couple of Corvettes, so I'm not guessing here.

Stuff like that happens.
Although 72 isn't that old, anything could have happened.
I'm just wondering. You guys say the thing on the floor is a backup (manual) method of opening the door. If that's so, what is the regular method?
