Really though if your in a left hand lane and are determined to enforce the speed limit to others behind you without moving over you are just begging to get tail gated.
I absolutely hate drivers, usually past 60 that think they are the Speed Nazis of the Highway.
I have known what it is for many years but I generally refer to as another insecure, irresponsible driver who has no business having a license.
Me, too.
I was behind one yesterday. Checked the brakes every time the road had a cross street even though there was no stop sign and there were no cars on the cross streets. Same driver also completely ignored speed limit signs. Drove 35 in a 45 mph zone, and then inexplicably sped up to 40 in a 25 mph active school zone.

There. That controversial enough for you?
actually, I travel a back road, every single morning, 45MPH, dark and windy, and there is always someone tail gating.....
So you brake check them and they don't know what your doing? Most younger folks don't know, your asking them to back off a little to give you some room in case you have to stop quickly for deer, that that particular road are deer. Now I do the speed limit, but they still ride your butt, and have noticed of late, it's usually woman....so I brake check them to say, Please, if you would, back off a little, b/c your lights are blinding me. Or I just pull over and let them go ahead...b/c they are so close, if I'd have to brake, they'd plow into my back end...very unsafe....
No wonder there are pile ups in bad weather, b/c when it snows, all the SUV owners think they can do the speed limit, and there are more and more accidents
I was taught brake checking in driver's ed in high school. It doesn't work so well in a major city.
I'm very surprised, thank you for educating me...actually didn't think most younger folks were taught that any longer, b/c I find that it is mostly woman who do it, and the men who do it are very nasty....but women don't know your break checking them...
Glad you know...
It used to be a very nice way of asking the driver to back off a bit....
If you know the answer to this question, please don't answer it...I'm just curious to see, how many people in this world today, actually know what break checking is?
This subject comes up many times, at work with older people my age...and I've even discussed it with my son, and his answer is, "I don't know what they are teaching the younger generation today, but they sure don't know what break checking is".
Do you? Just a yes or no answer will do....please don't give it away?
Bumper stickers.......
This goes with do unto others.......as you would have done to you.
