i just cant help to want to say something when someone makes ridiculous statements like this.

if you buy something you cant afford, thats dumb. whether or not you use debt to finance the purchase doesnt matter (the terms do matter but the simple fact of financing or not financing doesnt say anything. the person who isnt financing probably isnt very good with money).

Just a quick commentary about making snap decisions about cars and their owners-

* I drive an import because it's a reliable, high quality vehicle. It was assembled in the United States and had been reliable with very little repairs for 15 years. I've been yelled at for not buying an "American" vehicle. Uh me buying and paying off my vehicle has indirectly supported the dozens of Americans who worked the supply chain to produce this item for me to have.

* I worked in an auto shop for a long time. The average American consumer wants reliability and safety before they want to be paying for the "brand" of vehicle or the image that goes with it. This is why some brands of vehicles have cult followings, they are safe and reliable.

* In general people who are overly concerned about owning and buying "status symbol" items tend to be unhappy.

I wish this thread had been reported sooner. It was a bad idea from the get-go. This is a perfect example of what happens when one makes sweeping generalizations about a group of people. Such a generalization is never correct, nor right. Just don't do it.

The most recent personal attacks and vulgar posts have been deleted, but I'm not going to spend the rest of the afternoon cleaning up this thread.

Please adhere to the Terms of Service and forum rules when you post. Personal attacks are NEVER permitted. Name-calling, baiting, bickering, vulgar language: DON'T DO IT. If you can't stand another member and can't exercise the self-control not to attack them, then put them on Ignore in your Settings, which will render their posts invisible to you. There's no excuse for sophomoric bickering in this forum.

Thread closed.
