If you drive an expensive car you're probably a jerk, scientists say (2009, manual transmission)

The study is a further study of referenced studies, and conforms to the first law of academicians in higher institutions with respect to research-based studies: "Publish or Perish." The fact that it had a catchy conclusion that attracted viral attention with click-bait worthy headlines was a bonus. In that, the researchers achieved their goal, and the conclusion that "intervention to educate drivers to their responsibility to yield to pedestrians" is so banal as to require further study, and to devise schemes for implementation of an eventual conclusion and/or education plan.

I drive an expensive car and I always stop for pedestrians, so I am not a jerk.
Hitting a pedestrian could cause a serious dent to your hood, or scratches on the grill or fenders.
that reminds me of a taxi driver we had in vegas a while back. he was complaining about the asians just haphazardly crossing the street. he said that he doesnt want to hit them and get rice all over his car.
I almost died a few years ago when a Beemer almost slammed into me head on ....two lane highway, this a-hole made an illegal move to pass and didn't see me in the oncoming lane. Thanks to my fast reflexes I'm not a statistic.
FWIW in metropolitan areas a LOT of car owners with nice vehicles drive cautiously because they cherish their vehicles. This is why most young drivers get hand me down wheels or "sh*tboxes" to drive until they can afford something nicer on their own. With time and wisdom comes the appreciation for a fancy car or truck.

Yes, I agree. It's from experience when I say BMWs carry a lot of a**hole drivers. Worse than Mustang drivers. I've been cut off, tailgated, etc.
It's cool though, and fun to shame those owners when they break.
I ran into Autozone last summer to get air aircap for a tire, this 1 year old, really nice BMW 550i was parked there with the owner fuming, he had no idea what was wrong. (It was after dealer hours.) The Autozone guy didn't know WTF was going on with the car either, he was worthless out there.
I hopped in my old (unbreakable) Lexus LS and made eye contact with Bimmer Bro and made a slight look, it was priceless. I went in there for an air cap, he comes there for a broken practically new BMW.
BMW people will sacrifice their kids to try and convince people their cars are not literally the rolling junk piles that they are.
A friend of mine has a 2000 328i, I swear to god he's dumped over 10k into that thing....at least. He just won't get rid of it. "It's a Bimmer" he always says. He wants it to become a classic.
