they did not. they gave half a bill in an early funding round, it is unknown what the multiplication is now, but if the IPO starts at 50bil, the smart money is to not buy rivian, but buy ford. just the bump from the investment round was significant. 25% in a couple days

I don't know if anyone read the article or watched the video - they report that the air suspension is delivering sport sedan like handling on road as well as superior capability off road, and it can vary the ride height to allow from 7.9in to 14.4in of ground clearance. The built in compressor can also allow you to air down the tires for soft terrain and pump them back up again when you return to asphalt. It sounds pretty cool for a recreational truck, I gotta say.

Yeah, they hit a large boulder with the front wheel. Fixed it and continued on. Then again, that impact would've sheared any wheel/spindle from any truck, so there's that.
A bone stock Rivian finished in 6th place at the Rebelle Rally in 2020. It's a 10 day/2,000 km off road navigation challenge through the Nevada desert. Yes they had to have charging at checkpoints just like gas for the ICE vehicles. It performed flawlessly.

If the Maverick was a PHEV, then that would be very exciting.

Yep.

Remember the Toyota T100?

I'm also curious as to just how much do and how many people prize the off-roading abilities. The vehicle seems well-equipped to do so since there's an independent motor for each wheel, can wade through pretty high water depths, has a very high max ground clearance, and a bunch of interesting features geared towards the outdoors, but are there really that many people that would pay a premium for these capabilities?

Does pretty great in water because you can seal the powertrain since it doesn't require air intake to operate (hence why electric motors are pretty popular for submarine use):

It'd be crazy if it can hit Ridgeline sales numbers for a premium segment with what are likely very high margins. How do you figure they'd be able to sell that many units? These guys even at base price with no options and all incentives included are still way above the median transaction price.

I don’t know what the sales numbers of the Ridgeline are, I just know I see maybe two a year.

Honda Ridgeline sales in 2020 were 32,168, compared to Fords F series sales for 2020 of 787,372 and Ford has invested $500 million in Rivian.
