I'm really excited about the potential expansion of the art museum. Especially some previous rumors about using Boutwell Auditorium. However, I'm not sure why a feasibility study has to be done for everything and why it has to cost so much. What could be done with $270,000. Seems like almost throwing it away.

A long time ago, I used to like Friday's - it was a nice place to eat- but back then there wasn't really too many places to go and Red Lobster and Olive Garden were great. I mean back when Quincy's and Bonanza were still around.

Now, I can understand why most of these chains are going belly up - they just aren't good, and they are getting undercut by the fast casual places, high end fast food from the bottom, and better higher end chains offering cheaper offerings from the top.

So basically Ruby Tuesday's, O'Charley's, Friday's, Applebee's...I won't go to any of them because of poor service and crap food.

The last time I went to that Friday's our food was skimpy and overcooked and slow. If they do go back to their glory days and produce a good experience, then maybe there is a spot for them in a Promenade or basic strip center somewhere - but Perimeter Park should have special unique fare IMO.

Perry's is definitely on par with Flemming's, Ruth's Chris, Shula's and Season's 52 as far as upscale chain restaurants in Birmingham. And they have their place among the many offerings we have.

Tourian, I'm with you, I really haven't been in one of those Applebee type places in years. I know they also have a place in the market but I would rather do Newk's, Taziki's or something fast casual. Those earlier restaurants depended way too much on Frozen flash fried food.

If you want to try a great new sandwich in town, go out to ELI'S JERUSALEM GRILL AND CAFE in Inverness. Have the chicken schwarma sandwich. It is really good. (and their pita is more like Indian Nan. not dry and flavorless like most pita)

This place looks to be an improvement from Friday's, and the location is ideal for high end steak, without crossing 459. I think if T.G.I. Friday's were to make a return, Grand River, or some other outlying area should have it.

If you're talking about purely the dining experience, then maybe you guys are right. Although I don't think the food is bad, it's not Bonefish Grill or Shula's. However, Friday's has a great atmosphere for those wanting to have a quick bite and some drinks before going out on the town or something like that. It's kind of a "party restaurant" which is why I like it. I've always been too hyper to truly sit and enjoy a meal.

This is the reason I think Friday's usually does so well in urban areas. I'm not sure that it needs to be Friday's, but Bham could use some more lively places. I don't know anything about this location as it has been closed since I moved here. Maybe it was much worse than others.

As far as perimeter park, I'm not sure what's special or unique about it and why it would require that. Can you explain?

Perry's is coming to Perimeter Park because of the Grandview Center. (they have some of the best business locations in each city they are in) This is another example of the evolution of this area into a self-contained district. The roads are going to be reconfigured to allow movement within the areas without the use of 280. More hotels and restaurants and a higher income customer base are all going to elevate this to another level. Patchwork Farms on the west side will also contribute a great deal to the change that is coming. It should be so great that a ripple effect will end up running down through Inverness.

Friday's was a very happening place at Perimeter for a very long time. The location and the life of the business just ran its course.

Now, I am most curious what will happen with the building that housed the Fox and the Hound. Btw, the Asian Rim is a fairly happening place with a great bar and patio, and Black Market as well. I think a lot of people use these as meet up locations to get off the highway at rush hour/happy hour.

I agree with Raj. I think of Perimeter Park as an OTM/suburban Uptown with upscale dining that feeds off a captive market of the nearby hospital and hotels. It should serve the conference business types well, and a place like Friday's - I think, just doesn't fit in that prime location. Maybe further down 280 as an out parcel to one of the five or six other strip centers.
