Single worst author:

Kevin Trudeau

Such a joke. I shouldn't even refer to him as an author... he's a salesman.

Can't say I've ever read a "bad book", though I have to admit that some just don't ring my bell. For instance, several posters in the "What are you reading?" thread have declared how much they love The Poisonwood Bible. I tried to read that several years ago when Oprah had it as a book club selection. I simply could not force myself to read it. I did manage to slog my way through Anna Karenina, which I also found to be ponderous and it took me forever to even figure out the plot. That one I got more out of on a second reading. And that has been my experience with most of what is called "great literature". I hated reading Moby Dick in high school - at that time I was more 'into' weird stuff like Lovecraft. Even now I'd rather read anything by Clive Barker or Stephen King than try to read some of the stuff others consider 'great'.

I will not read anything by Anita Shreve! It amazes me that this woman is published.

I tried three times to get into "The DaVinci Code" but I just couldnt do it. I know lots of people who loved it, but for me it was ho hum. Also, I tried twice to get into "The Time Traveler's Wife" and again, no go.

I was astonished to hear some of you don't like Anita Shreve. I always like her stuff. (some better than others) I loved "All She Ever Wanted".

Hotel New Hampshire (it's from Stephen King I think) was very boring too.
