I'm rich!!!
For $2.44, I can buy... NOTHING!
Dear Dawn,
Good news! You are entitled to an additional credit of $2.44 for some of your past Kindle book purchases. The credit results from legal settlements reached with publishers Hachette, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, and Penguin in antitrust lawsuits filed by State Attorneys General and Class Plaintiffs about the price of eBooks. This credit is in addition to the credit that you received from these settlements in March 2014.
You don't have to do anything to claim your credit, we have already added your credit to your Amazon account. We will automatically apply your available credit to your next purchase of a Kindle book or print book sold by Amazon.com, regardless of publisher. The credit applied to your purchase will appear in your order summary. If your account does not reflect this credit, please contact Amazon's customer service.
Your credit is valid for one year and will expire after July 31, 2016. If you have not used your credit, we will send you another email 30 days before it expires to remind you that it is still available.
So how do they determine the amount? I think my credit is $4.88. What I've noticed though is no discount was applied to anything I purchased since I received the email. I wonder what the deal is on that?

What? Really? My whopping $2.44 came off -- it was listed on the invoice as "Promotions." Maybe yours got taken off BEFORE you got the email (maybe it had already been applied to your account a little while before)? You should check your recent orders and look at the invoice for each one.
jtur88 hasn't posted on C-D since December 2015 and his tag says "not a member." Hope he's okay. I know he was older and lived by himself.
jtur88, are you out there?
