From the link:

The phenomenon is not unique to California.

In Maryland, Republican Gov. Larry Hogan agreed to a single debate with Democratic rival Ben Jealous after a lengthy standoff. And in Pennsylvania, Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf agreed to just one debate against Republican Scott Wagner, which was moderated by “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek.

“If you’re the front-runner, the No. 1 rule is, don’t make a mistake that will transform the race and give your opponent an opportunity,” said Rose Kapolczynski, a Democratic consultant who ran campaigns for former U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer.

That's just so incredibly incredulous, as to be ....I can't even think of the words. Insane, unreasonable, incomprehensible - you pick.
The entire situation has been reduced to teenage fart jokes. It is a #METOOT moment.

Engaging a Donald Trump wannabe like Cox, who is a midwest carpet bagger, is BENEATH Gavin Newsom.

And that is saying alot, as Gavin is a sleazeball!!!

Like many, Cox needs to go to Idaho or Texas to be around his own. California is not for him.

10:00 am on a Monday holiday, only on public radio? This election is already in the bag for Newsome...with most of the electorate unable to differentiate a Republican from Trump. At least pretend to have this be an open and fair election. Cox has no chance at winning this outright...why not at least fill us in as to what you're going to be doing and how without paying for a fancy dinner.

California is not for any legal resident. It’s a paradise for illegal aliens thanks to Brown and the rest of the legislators. Newsom is cut from the same cloth.

So if someone doesn’t agree with the insane idea of open borders and giving healthcare to all illegal aliens for free they need to move to Idaho or Texas ?

Ok...

During the debate, drink every time Newsom says Trump. Of course you will have liver damage before the halfway mark. On immigration, he'll conjure images of ICE agents dragging five year-olds out of their kindergarten class. On the economy, he'll keep repeating "5th largest economy in the world" like a mantra. I hope they hold his feet to the fire on how we can sustain free pre-K, free health insurance, and free community college for every single resident once half of Mexico moves here.

This is the attitude of the left these days

“ if you don’t want open borders or don’t want to pay billions to pay for healthcare for illegal aliens you need to move out of California “
