Canada was once one of the world's best armed forces. They kicked behind in both World Wars.
Now, not so much.

It's because Canadians are investing in things that will actually make $$ and provide a better quality of living (healthcare, education, safety, job support). Unlike Canada, the US blew billions on a war that didn't even exist... and have entered the worst recession since the 30's will a wack load of debt owned by China.

If I were living in Canada again, I'd be breathing a sigh of relief and thanking Chretien (PM) for not following Bush's lead.

BLEEDING-HEART LIBERALS: they are everywhere in most of Canada except Manitoba, Sask. & Alberta and they are politically correct to the point of nauseum! If you have any Conservative thoughts you are automatically demonized. And no, most Conservatives in Canada are not anything like your extreme right-wing Republican nut jobs in the states. Most of us do believe in health care and socialism (paying taxes for good publice services), but there are some limits! The BHL are almost trying to prove that they are anti-Republican American that they go beyond common sense.

GUN CONTROL AND THE RIGHT TO SELF DEFENCE: I'm not talking handguns since I don't own one or believe anyone should own one, I'm talking "long-guns", which are also villified. Once again our bleeding heart liberal laws make it impossible for a law abiding citizen to defend themselves in their own home. You have to use "equal force" to defend yourself, so first you have to determine what someone is attacking you with, then use that to protect yourself! The Police tell people to not to fight back against someone breaking into your home, just let them take what they want and leave you unharmed. Why don't we just write a blank cheque for these scum-bags?

I do notice that is some America cities there seems to be a deterant with gun ownership. People seem to be alot more careful when dealing with others (at least in the low crime areas) since you never know who's carrying. For instance you don't see too many cut infront of others when the highway is backed up. I have seen quite a few drunk college kids in Canada trash parked vehicles on a busy street, I believe they would think twice about this in city where people have permits to carry.

OUR RESERVATION PROBLEM: For the poor honest souls who live on the bad Reserves I truely feel sorry, but for the Warlords who deal illegal alcohol, tobbacco and firearms I have no respect. Once again our BHL government keeps these people disfunctional by giving them subsidies and tax-breaks. And some still want more land! Enough that some towns in Ontario have become occupied warzones with citizens being assulted in their own homes. And yet groups like Amnesty International think Canada isn't doing enough for their indigenous peoples....I know a Native who told me he can't ever leave his home over night on the reserve since his place will be looted.

Anyway it is not all bad here, even in the snow of February.
Good post! (I can't stand the Liberals either.)

From what I understand, we can thank the Liberals for the deterioration of the Canadian Forces. And since we still live in a world where war is part of our reality, I'd like to see Canada built their army up again. Especially with Russia and France wanting to claim parts of Canada's side of the Arctic and Atlantic Ocean for themselves.

Usually I'm against wars, but hey, if a country has to protect itself, it better has a good army. And don't rely on the Americans for protection, because they are part of the same problem, as I understand. Americans won't think twice to stab Canada in the back, if they have anything to gain from it.

Nope; not a typo. Lived in Sudbury, Ontario at the time. It was right around Christmas and there were so many people visiting from down south that did not have block heaters; it was a nightmare!! I don't know where Farenheit, Celsius and Kelvin meet ; but it was -60 C

F and C are equal at -40. Kelvin doesn't have negative values, and degrees are equal to C, so they can never meet.

American politics and media tactics facilitate fear and paranoia among its citizens. Canada does not have this atmosphere. Period.

(I've lived in both countries, back and forth, all my life)
