Well, not sure what's gonna happen next but the bill in its current form (as I stated many moons ago) is probably DOA. And I didn't get paid an asinine 150K to come to that conclusion.
The author of the bill, Bob Rucho, represents Mecklenburg Senate district 39. This district includes downtown Charlotte, high profile neighborhoods that are part of the inner city, and points all the way down to the SC Line. I don't know how you could get more vested in Charlotte than that. His district includes both urban & suburban voters. I'm sure what he has to gain by upsetting any of them. So this allegation, IMO, isn't true.
Indeed. They said there needs to be an authority. The only point of contention seems to be in who gets to pick the people on the board. Foxx wants to pick all of them. Well.... no surprises there. This is what they have now.
Lol, still stuck on the anti-Foxx thing? I don't know about all of them but the mayor and city leaders should have a huge stake in determining the authority composition...that goes for ANY mayor of Charlotte (repub or dem.
Fox will have to ok any changes to the control of the airport. BILL will be DOA.
Oh? Link please. And there's no such thing as DOA unless you are saying a department of the federal executive can override the sovereignty law of a state.
The bill already arrived. One thing is for sure though, there is no longer a bill.
Whatever the merits of the argument for the regional authority, I think this vote will haunt the local legislators in next year's campaigns. Some of them will discover their districts are not so "safe" after all.

Well, let's bookmark this post and meet back. I doubt the powerful lawmakers behind this will lose their seats no matter what. And there's far more important things to the overall state than our little airport.
