See What Happened When Homeless Men Moved Into a Liberal Neighborhood (compassion for thee, not for me) for similar hypocrisy. Lightfoot is not alone.

Is there no way to recall her from office? I mean, do you think there would be enough support for that? Shouldn't there be a process for that? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but with Illinois politics, I take nothing for granted.

The last poll I saw gave her an approval rating of 78%. The people of Chicago think she is doing a bang up job. She is going to be harder to get rid of than Madigan.

Yeah, this is over the top. Why don't ordinary citizens and businesses get protection from the anarchists?

I believe you, but who are these people who are saying THAT?

Bob Berlin. I know Bob. Great guy.

Wish we had him in Cook County.

We had an expression for this in New York City back in the 1960's and 1970's; Limousine Liberals. The best definition is Limousine Liberal - Urban Dictionary.

(Excerpt, link) For example.

They'll tell us to ride bikes or use public transportation to get to work to conserve energy while they get taxied around in limos and private jets.

They tend to take a soft on crime stance and stand up for murderous thugs like Mumia Abu Jabar or Tookie Williams while they live in gated communities with round the clock surveillance that isn't within 50 miles of the nearest ghetto or any other high crime area.

Citing threats, Mayor Lori Lightfoot defends ban on protesters on her block: 'I have a right to make sure that my home is secure'

TRANSLATION: "I have the right to spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars and divert law enforcement resources away from other neighborhoods making them LESS secure instead of hiring a private security detail, just like I have a right to go get my hair cut while the rest of the city is on lockdown and while threatening to put any salon out of business that dares to give anyone else but me a haircut."

And this is why so many people fear the city is going down in flames -- not just that they have such a vile, self-serving hypocrite as mayor but that the voters actually LIKE this mayor. That is absolutely unfathomable to me.
