Christianity requires women to be able to speak. Everyone has a direct connection to God regardless of gender, race, specific faith, nation, orientation, etc....

Without women ministers there would be no Society of Friends.

Quote:
The most surprising aspect of Quakerism was the fact that ministry – the right to speak during a Quaker meeting – was open to women from the very beginnings of the movement in the 1650s.

Female Traveling Ministers
While Quakers believed that “no one should preach the Word without a direct call from God,” they also believed that anyone, male or female, old or young, could receive the call. One important aspect of the Quaker religion was the use of traveling ministers to spread the Quaker religion around the world.

Especially in the early years, a large number – possibly the majority – of traveling Quaker preachers were women. The first order of business for a woman who had received the call and wanted to travel was to meet with the ministry committee at her own monthly meeting, and then at the quarterly and the yearly meetings.

Once a minister traveled to their destination, they went about spreading the word. They met with small groups of Quakers, prayed with families, and endured many hardships in order to teach people of the joys and benefits of having a direct relationship with God.
Three Quaker women preachers in the 1600s were hanged and several others stripped naked and publicly whipped in Massachusetts for our faith. The Puritans did not support women preachers, pacifism, or teachings that individuals can have direct connections to God making organized religion less necessary. Thankfully, Massachusetts has evolved out of the stone ages.

We do not add to or subtract from sir. God does not change, therefore we choose to be obedient to what He tells us. The world is free to do as they please.

Yes, you do. You church has several policies that are complete fabrications. No matter how hard you try to explain them away, they are not based on any kind of legitimate Bible scholarship.

So much quoting man's word instead of Jesus word and teachings in this thread. A believers life is so much more peaceful when they follow only the path and teaching of Jesus in the four gospels, and what the Spirit has personally taught them, instead of the men who would be rulers over women in the letters written late after the Crucifixion. We were all created equal, despite our physical covering.

I will go with the Spirit of life that dwells within this body.

Exactly

I like learning and I find I learn best in a co-operative way rather than a confrontational way

From what I have read the structures and organisation of the church is necessary but we are not to fight for the necessary things we are to adhere and yearn for the better, spiritual, qualitative things - including understanding and wisdom

The ongoing problem is our collective misunderstanding of each other and the context of the Scriptures which has affected and continues to affect society

I agree, the Spirit that dwells within is my go to most of the time for questions, and guidance and my peace is sought there most often

I have learned much from peaceful and respectful discussion about the various religion practices and even the many denominations of Christianity. I can even agree to some things, but the things I can't agree with I am very careful not to argue that my thoughts are better than theirs and they need to follow my beliefs. I realize we are all different in our thoughts, practices and what holds our interest. Some people do seem to need the words and wisdom of a religious leader within the structure of a church. I don't for myself
I agree wholeheartedly with your last paragraph.

"The ongoing problem is our collective misunderstanding of each other and the context of the Scriptures which has affected and continues to affect society"
