Afraid I disagree with you there. For I believe that the kjv is infallible as concerning doctrine; and that therefore it translated it correctly when it said "for the remission of sins".
Besides, even if you do change that part of the verse, it does not change the fact that the Holy Ghost is absolutely promised to those who receive baptism in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins.
If you can get past them receiving the Holy Spirit before water baptism in Acts 10 then you can believe whatever you like. We'll just have to disagree.

Like I said, a person can receive the Holy Ghost by faith apart from water baptism (Ephesians 1:13-14). They are sealed because of faith.
Water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins is an extra step that one can take in order to ensure that one has the Holy Ghost (in the case that anyone doubts that they have a relationship with the Holy Ghost); and thus that "unction from the holy one" spoken of in 1 John 2:20; by which we can "know all things".

The Holy Spirit doesn't come by a second step, it comes at repentance of the heart.
As long as you see that water baptism is not necessary for salvation, you are doing well.

It seems that you see that so we have no problem.
I do see a case in scripture that baptism in Jesus' Name might be required for salvation.
Act 2:38, Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39, For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Rom 8:30, Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
It appears that the Holy Ghost is conditionally promised to "as many as the Lord our God shall call."
You may have to think for a few minutes as to how this applies to what I am saying.

No, it doesn't take me but a second to know you are wrong!
We are justified by faith, God will not accept anything else.
We can't have faith in Christ and water baptism for salvation.
He will not accept anything less than 100% faith, plus nothing for salvation.
That baptism is a spiritual baptism, not water baptism.
You should know that justbyfaith!
Col. 2:12 is not talking about water baptism!
It is the believer being baptized into the death of Christ at repentance.
It refers to the Crucifixion and Christ being our substitute.
It's the same reference as Rom. 6:3-4.
