I saw the other thread about the Chosen last week. Watched the first 3 episodes. The first two were more like soap operas. The Quintus character was like a cartoonish cross between Eddie Haskell and Jim Carey. I liked the 3rd episode best. Christ was camping out and the little girl found him and brought more of her friends to see him every day. That's as far as I got. I tried to watch episode 4 but it didn't hold my interest.
Ii took me a long time to find the actual show. YouTube was full of people talking about it. Interesting that Dallas Jenkins is the son of the author of the "Left Behind" books.

I watch it on Pureflix.

Thanks for your opinion. I liked the series, though I must confess, I was very tuned in to what was truly Scriptural and what was not. I understood their reasoning behind the back story on the characters. One thing i did not like was how they portrayed Mary Magdalene. There isn’t a Scripture anywhere that tells us she was a prostitute. She was demon possessed, but not a prostitute.

My overall thoughts of The Chosen are that if the episodes can bring one soul to Christ, it will have been worth it. I’ve enjoyed watching. This is my second go around. Looking forward to more seasons. I have to say, the actor who is supposed to be Jesus is outstanding, and I, too, liked the episode with the children. It’s easy to imagine Jesus being that way with little kids.

Depends On The Flavor Of The Favor...
The creator/director is the evangelical son of the author of the Left Behind books. One of the producers is a Mormon, Derral Eves. Mormons run the distribution company and the production use Salvation Army and Mormon facilities. You're going to get an evangelical/mormon/sallie interpretation because they're running the show. They get to choose which things to emphasize.

Well, there's a team of writers, actually. I think you'd really like it if you gave it a chance. When Mel Gibson came out with "The Passion of the Christ," I found a whole lot of Catholicism woven into the story, but it didn't stop it from being an excellent movie nevertheless. You can find a movie to be worthwhile even if you disagree with a few parts of it.

I saw The Passion of the Christ. I also noticed some decidedly Catholic moments, and some allusions to Catholic tradition. Can't say I really enjoyed the more blatant parts, but yes, I kept watching. That said, I didn't see it a second time, and I don't watch it over and over again each week. There's a difference between a single-experience movie and a weekly tv show.
