Is that the whole Bay, no, but I also never claimed it would be because I haven't seen a complete Bay Area statistic. San Jose's MSA's rate is also half that of San Francisco's.

There's a thread on this using the in General Forum. Feel free to make your own calculations using the linked FBI data in the thread, math genius

You can dice Chicago up and get a view on how the murders are skewed.

This is for 2014 and the Illinois counties of the metro area:

Outlying Suburban: 5,600,000 - 76 murders ( 1.3/100,000)
Suburban+North/Central Chicago: 7,727,000 - 237 murders (3.0/100,000)
Chicago West+South areas and violent bordering suburbs: 794,000 - 296 murders (37.3/100,000)

Just as I suspected, the Bay Area homicide rate is almost half that of Chicagoland.

Yea, that's totally "the same" there.

Except the bay and Chicago are far apart. Do you consider the probably of being twice as like to be murdered as close?

For the next year list perhaps everybody could post their cities' numbers monthly to cut down on the pages (Recommendation).

Since this is the final day of 2015 , Let's organized it by each region's 10 highest count cities. Ex:
Northeast: 1. NYC- 339, 2. Etc, 3. Etc,
Midwest: 1. Chicago- 500
West: 1. L.A- 280
South: 1. Baltimore - 343

Everybody be safe, R.I.P to loved ones, and Happy New Years!

You would much rather do it by rate because NY is the safest in the northeast and I wouldn't even include Baltimore in the south.

I haven't seen anyone brag about how dangerous their cities are either. If anything I sense the opposite. Most people are ashamed of their cities being dangerous and ghetto, and put down other cities, such as the recent battle between Chicago and the Bay Area.

Meanwhile, luckily Atlanta has been getting left alone. I haven't seen the last two weeks of the year, but hopefully it's still in the double-digits. I really hope for a huge drop in 2016. I really would like too see Atlanta with less than 80 or 70, but of course the lesser the better. Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year!
