Bangor. Fairbanks is too extreme even by Alaskan standards.
Mobile, Alabama or Toledo, Ohio?
Toledo... Mobile has a lot of perks but I am more familiar with Toledo and expect that it would be a better cultural fit for me. I also like its regional location with it being close to so many interesting places within a few hours.
Golden since it's in the Denver metro. Fairbanks AK or Bangor ME?
Neither would necessarily be high on my list of places to consider living, but I probably would pick Bangor. At least that isn't far from Bar Harbor, Rockland, and other interesting Maine towns. I suspect Fairbanks would be okay, but to me I wouldn't want to live THAT far north.
For the most recent one, I'll go with Peoria. Which would allow for a lot of flights to various places(vs. from the Tyler and Longview airports), and the weather wouldn't be as hot in the summer. And to add for getting around to places, you can catch Amtrak trains a short distance away in either Normal or Galesburg, along with more scheduled flights from Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington.
Islip's downtown looks a lot better on streetview. However I'm someone who likes to travel a lot, and I have to imagine living on Long Island would be a pain for that, having to pass through NYC every time I headed out. Iselin is also pretty close to Edison and New Brunswick, and I know that area has a lot of Indian-Americans, who I've always felt a kinship with for some reason.
I'll pick Albany mainly because Oregon is generally preferable to California. It's also a bit more affordable and Placerville seems to be in prime wildfire country.

Battle Creek, Michigan or Kellogg, Idaho?
Battle Creek, MI... Kellogg looks like a fun place to ski but I'm a city person and would prefer to be in the much larger city/metro area. I also enjoy the state of Michigan as a whole too.
Proctor, VT or Gamble Township, PA?
