Lafayette. Would rather live in IN than IL.

Knoxville, TN or Boise, ID?

Knoxville, TN. I've never been crazy about living in the south, but being that close to the smoky mountains would be great. I also love the lush environment and proximity to the east coast. Boise is kind of out in the middle of nowhere. I've also heard it's pretty arid. Winters probably aren't that great.

Beavercreek, OH vs. Beaverton, OR

Beavercreek. I really like SW Ohio and don't really have any desire to move to the West Coast.

Jay, Oklahoma or Jay, Florida?

Beaver Creek. At this point would rather be in OH over OR. Tempe AZ or Bellevue WA?

I already live in the Baltimore metro, but I'm assuming you mean city proper. Despite Baltimore's less-than-stellar reputation, there are in fact several really nice parts of the city. I'm going to pick one of those to live. To be sure, I don't really want to live in the city itself. But a hot, dry desert climate (such as Las Vegas) would not appeal to me in the slightest; I like greenery and water and rain and seasonal change. (Yeah, I know, it can get chilly in Vegas in the winter; but it's not the same.) Moreover, the idea of living in a city whose main purpose is to encourage gambling and debauchery simply is not the place for me.

Oh, and if you're referring to metro area, that's even better, because I don't have to go through the hassle of packing up and moving!

Prescott, Arizona or Asheville, North Carolina?

Asheville - I think living in a desert state like Arizona sounds interesting in theory but in reality I am more accustomed to a climate and culture like North Carolina, and Asheville is reportedly gorgeous.

Washington D.C. or New York City?

Jay, OK, since it's a much bigger town than Jay, FL.

Stillwater, OK or Stillwater MN?

NYC. I find DC too artificial.

The one in Oklahoma, mainly for the weather. I like college towns, too.

Flagstaff, Arizona or Big Bear Lake, California?

Flagstaff, I think I'd prefer. And it has Amtrak service, which is another plus. Big Bear Lake is probably fine for a smaller CA town up in the mountains, but I worry it'd be more isolated than I'd prefer. Maybe I'd be okay buying a house there, for a 2nd vacation home?

Two planned communities in central Ohio (one near Dayton, other near Akron): Beavercreek, OH, or Tallmadge, OH?
