I know Pioche an old mining wild west town some three hours north of Las Vegas. I will go for it even I don't know Moose Jaw but I figure it will be way too cold.
Pioche still has all the isolation you would want.

Baton Rouge, LA or Jackson, MS?
I want to like Jackson but it just seems so depressing. Baton Rouge isn't my kinda place either (hot and humid big-state-school college town) but I at least know a couple people in that area.
Brutally cold winters or brutally hot summers? I'll have to go with Ridgecrest here. At least there's mountains nearby to cool off, and you're not too far from Bakersfield for more everyday essentials, and Vegas/LA are close enough to easily spend a weekend in. East Grand Forks is just too isolated and unlike the MN Twin Cities, which I can deal with thanks to skywalks and indoor malls along with better winter festivals, doesn't have much going for it, and in fact, Ridgecrest isn't terribly far from ski resorts, either if I want my snow fix. Ridgecrest has better future potential as well, given there's lots of land to develop.

I guess Dodge City if I was forced to pick since at least its got more of a tourist industry to keep it afloat. It's slightly closer to Wichita for healthcare, flights, and social life as well, being a manageable distance to spend a weekend night at a friend's house if I can find one online. That said, until we have flying cars that can go at least 200 MPH though to compromise for the isolation of both places, I'll pass IRL.
Bergenfield. New Jersey is my favorite state in the country, and I'd much rather have northern weather than southern weather. Georgia doesn't do it for me, at all.
Raleigh-Durham metro, Dallas-Fort Worth metro, or Minneapolis-St. Paul metro?
