Iowa City, IA or Lafayette, IN? (both college towns)
Close one but I think I will go with Lafayette IN. It's closer to Chicago and the downtown area seems like it offers more. Love the architecture there and the twin city style vibe with West Lafeyette.

Corvallis OR or Rome GA?

Rome, GA. I like that it's closer to a larger city. Longview TX or Dothan AL?

I'll take Dothan. Only parts of Alabama I've been to are Birmingham, the Daphne area, and (very briefly) Tuscaloosa, I don't know anything about the southeastern part. Could be interesting, seems to have a better downtown too (from Google images at least).

Alamogordo, NM or Pendleton, OR?

Cheyenne. Lewisville is too remote and religiously homogenous. I'm not LDS and would therefore probably find it hard to feel at home there.

Decatur, Alabama or Decatur, Illinois?

Decatur, Alabama or Decatur, Illinois?
Decatur, IL... both cities seem livable, but the midwest is a better overall fit for me culturally.

Sioux City, IA or Wausau, WI?

Wausau WI for me. More interesting natural surroundings and scenery.

Leesburg VA or Santa Rosa CA?

Santa Rosa. I'm scenery-driven, and both those places are scenic,
but Santa Rosa is more scenic: the spectacular Sonoma coastline is close by,
as is Pt Reyes National Seashore.

Two Midwestern state capitals:
Springfield, IL or Lincoln, NE?

Montpelier, much more of a fan of Vermont and the town is less remote. It'd also be cool to have relatively close access to Montreal/Quebec --- Montana touches Canada but Bozeman is at the southern end of the state, and the parts of Canada the state touches are pretty boring and unpopulated. Finally, I've lived in the Mountain West (Reno, NV), never lived in New England or spent much time there.

Lakeland, FL or Omaha, NE?
