Huntsville wins based on economy and location. You have mountains, lakes, and several neat hiking areas right in the city. I also like Huntsville's commercial districts that are not as cookie cutter. Huntsville's space history is also more interesting.
Framingham, MA or New Braunfels, TX?
While I absolutely love Bucee's, Farmington is just waaaayyyyy nicer than New Braunfels. Farmington offers a lot, and is close to Boston.
While Terlingua's location near Big Bend Nat'l Park is intriguing, it's just way too out in the desert for me. While Venice is isolated as well, at least it has a climate more fit for human habitation.
I was just curious so I checked on the nearest Walmart to each town. The nearest one to Venice is about an hour and 25 minutes away in New Orleans. The nearest one to Terlingua is an hour and 38 minutes away, but it's in Mexico!

Columbus, Ohio or Charlotte, North Carolina?
I actually like both but Charlotte due to being closer to family. Little Rock or Shreveport LA?
The landscape around Bozeman looks more interesting,
and it's close to Yellowstone, so I'd choose Bozeman.
Reno or Colorado Springs?
COS tbh. Reno is a better fit for me culturally, but I already lived there for a year and I felt like I'd kinda done everything (although obviously the trails and ski slopes around Tahoe are nearly infinite). Colorado Springs probably has a slightly better job market in my field, but of course I'd be able to take Denver jobs -- and I'd be outside the 50-mile radius companies often use to determine if workers are required to be in-office, but close enough that I could go in for the occasional meeting if needed.
(Honestly if I had a job in COS where I only had to be in-office 1-2x a week, I might just live on the south side/south suburbs of Denver and eat the commute, but of course that defeats the point of this hypothetical)
I'm guessing it'd be easier to get out of town in the winter in the Front Range too, since even though it gets snow and ice, it's not surrounded by mountains like Reno.

Bellingham, WA or Indianapolis, IN?
Indianapolis is the bigger city but I like that Bellingham is in the Pacific Northwest and its proximity to Vancouver and Seattle, two cities that I'd prefer over Indianapolis., so
Bellingham.

Iowa City, Iowa or Columbia, Missouri?
Iowa City. It's safer and closer to other metros than Columbia. Jefferson City MO or Carson City NV?
Carson City, at least you have Yosemite, and Reno which has a sizable amount of Casinos.
Vestavia Hills, AL Or Germantown, TN?
Vestavia Hills, but really only because I would prefer metro Birmingham in this case. I don't have a strong opinion about Vestavia Hills or Germantown on their own.
Poplar Bluff MO or Grand Island NE
