I assume someone is either getting city numbers and the other has numbers that incorporate Harris county addresses that say Houston but are just unincorporated Harris County? OR maybe 104 is a few weeks behind.

Either way we are seeing in the 180-240 range for murders which is good compared to previous years. Hopefully the city is heading towards consistently under 200 murders a year, as that is progress from the 250-300 we have been seeing in the last few years.
I dont know where he's getting his numbers, but my Houston numbers come from here:

News Release Archives

Every month of the year is archived but you have to manually count each murder, and this source is directly from HPD...

Houston murders by month:

January 19
February 16 (35)
March 25 (60)
April 18 (78)
May 12 (90)
June 14 (104)
July to-date 13 (117)

I just went and recounted and appears I was off 11; it appears Bpt may have not counted July. It sucks having to read every incident to be sure, other cities just give you a running tally lol...

So updated Houston is 117/5.06. I apologize for the misinformation!

I'm not angry. You guys are doing thankless jobs and encouraging many people's hobbies of being obsessed with statistics (homicide stats to be specific), and how they change as the city changes. I just wanted to know if Houston was really experiencing record lows or if we were just having a basic low year.

Miami Dade lower than NYC? I am curious, what is the number for Miami alone? Because it can be like all are in Miami.

Bpt reported 25 in Miami proper, which would be a rate of 5.4/100k if accurate, but I can't find a source for that...

So Miami is kind of safe but not that much, it is mostly Dade county that is safer
