The poll numbers are about right, except surprised Georgia received as many votes as it did.. I would have thought GA’s numbers would have been about double those of SC, but much less than those of NC or TX.
GA because I already live here and don't plan to leave. NC not too far behind and if I ever had to move out of GA for some reason, would be one of the first states I'd consider (the Triangle or CLT), then TX (Austin only) and then SC.

I wouldn't put too much emphasis in a city data poll. There was a poll where GA doubled NC when an OP made a similar question before it was closed. Also, I'm surprised that GA doesn't have votes more considering this site's love for Atlanta.
For me GA would be #1, NC #2, SC #3, and TX last because I like the southeast much better than Texas.
GA really doesn't have much outside Atlanta. SC is pretty much Greenville and Charleston. I've never cared for Columbia. NC just has a wider variety of things on offer.
They're all Southern states, so...basically they're all more or less the same thing. Especially now with their extreme right-wing state governments consolidating power and turning them all into mini-dictatorships.

I beg to differ that GA doesn't have much outside Atlanta.
And this doesn't include all the charming downtowns in the metro Atlanta suburbs. Georgia is a biodiverse state with a lot of things to offer outside Atlanta.

Great post! Georgia is definitely a very beautiful state.
While I enjoy living in metro Atlanta (and don't perceive the area's distinctions for Black people as "exclusive"), I do not have a strong preference at the state level. In many respects there is at least as much variance within each state as between different states. Cary has much more in common with Alpharetta than with Siler City for instance. But I do like the physical environment and ever so slightly more moderate politics in the South Atlantic states better than Texas in general.
