I imagine that if you drew a NC or Georgia sized state around the Texas triangle be this would look different. "Texas triangle" vs NC vs GA is a better comp I think.
Good point but even then, The Triangle's population would still be twice that of Georgia or NC with more colleges from which to chose and more GDP than the other mentioned states.

It has far more institutions of higher education with high name recognition than existing in the other states. Texas's location allows it to draw not only from the south but the central plains and the west coast. Texas has an industry that permeates all of our daily lives, oil and gas, but also it the largest generator of wind power in the country by far.
TX is larger by population and GDP than GA, NC and SC combined... That said, I think NC would be top of the pack for higher ed...

In most studies I found that were reputable,Georgia always ranked higher in infrastructure.

The problem with Georgia, is y'all don't build roads lol. I've lived there and been back to visit and ATL has shown little road expansion. Texas has more roads than any state in the country. Georgia isn't ranked higher in infrastructure. CNBC has had Texas in its top two for best states for business for years, a key reason is infrastructure. When's the last time Georgia did a major road expansion or built a new highway, new reservoir? Hartsfield too 5 years to build one new runway. DFW has two more runways already with room for two more without eminent domain. T

TX and GA are pretty much interchangeable in Safety.

Better Drivers:
1. NC
2. TX
3. GA
4. SC

Once again GA and TX are interchangeable. Both drive ridiculously fast, like to zip in and out of lanes, passing you like you're standing still at 80 MPH. The only difference in TX makes it closer to legal with the higher speed limits. SC... too many people like to cruise in the left lane.

Nicer:
1. TX
2. GA
3. NC
4. SC

TX and GA are pretty much interchangeable here as well. Texans are extremely friendly but Georgia hospitality is fair and strong as well.

Smarter:
1. GA
2. NC
3. TX
4. SC

I'm sorry TX but I have to give this to GA. Atlanta offers alot in terms of academics and education. Texas also has many good institutions but they're a bit scattered and concentrated within localities so to speak.

Open-minded:
1. GA
2. NC
3. TX
4. SC

GA, it's the most progressive out of any of these states.
See that's the problem with Georgia..people view ONE area as the WHOLE state. Who cares if academics are in one city? Maybe some like to go experience another part of the state. There are as many if not more college students in DFW as there are in metro Atlanta. There are at least 7 4 years universiites in D/FW.

Texas is unique like California and Florida in that it has multiple centers of importance. And I tire of people calling Georgia more progressive. How many minority mayors are there? Has Georgia ever elected a woman as Governor or Senator? Texas has.

The percentage of graduates with degrees is much higher in Atlanta (39%) than Dallas which is less at 34%

Hartsfield-Jackson is undergoing a 6b dollar expansion and renovation. Its the worlds busiest so I think its just fine

SO you havent shown how NC is "trending in the middle other than they have voted Democric, but when it comes to legislation an dgoverning its still very similar to GA. All im saying is if voting for Barack Obama is teh only ,measure to show a states progresssive leaning then I think thats a very flawed argument when the too states are so similar.GA has shown on statewide election its more progressive.
Georgia has had more statewide black elected officials than NC.
State Attorney General Thurbert Baker was the first African American to hold that postion in any state,,Chief of State Supreme Court,as well as two other sitting supreme court justices,Secretary of Labor. All elected statewide.

Georgia elected Grace Towns-Hamilton tgo the GA General Assembly in 1966.
We could count the black Senator that was elected in 1886 in Georgia as well if we want go back even further.Even during Reconstruction GA had more than double the amount of elected officials as NC.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...North_Carolina

I dont see any NC representation in thso famous photo

NC has had only ONE elected statewide official and that was for State COmptroller
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...cted_officials

In African American Political Engagement,GA is ranked 9th. The only Southern state in the top 10 after SC.
https://wallethub.com/edu/where-are-...engaged/19026/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._United_States

NC has slightly more elected women but GA by far has had more black elected officials across the board
https://www2.census.gov/library/publ...es/11s0413.pdf

Both GA and NC have had Religious Liberty Laws proposed but never passed
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_...storation_Acts

I think people dont realize GA was all Democratic until 2000
Black representation pre 1900 was relatively high in many southern states but the removal of Federal Troops ended the positive racial climate that was created during Reconstruction.
