They both are historic industrial upper Midwest port cities on the Great Lakes(yes even Saginaw, despite that it was slightly inland from Lake Huron), that a decent percentage of residents claim German as part of their heritage, and both cities have a mom and pop amusement park(by this I mean it is NOT connected to Cedar Fair, Six Flags, Disney, Universal, etc) that isn't well known, outside of these 2 cities.

Duluth, MN
I would say Erie, PA. Similar size, both lakefront towns, both get very heavy snow in the winter, both have a 'rust-belt' vibe.

Topeka, KS.

Springfield, IL because it's another state capital not too far from another major city in Missouri (St. Louis)

Portland, ME

Tough one because it’s fairly unique. I’ll go with Wilmington, NC as a historic port city that’s somewhat gritty. Wilmington doesn’t have hills though so it’s not that great of match.

Greenville, SC

Huntsville, AL. Two medium small cities in the northern portions of Deep South states that have a nice quality of life and are growing, but are still quite conservative overall unlike most fast-growing cities.

Gilbert, AZ

The too-obvious answer is one of the other generic Phoenix suburbs as they are all the same; but I'm going to change it up and go with Frisco, TX. It's a newer, fast-growing suburb of Dallas with a similar population and similar growth trends.

Bardstown, Kentucky

I'd say Beckley WV. Both have similar demographics and have interstate access. St. George UT.

Idaho Falls is another city that's close to a national park. St. George is to Zion and Idaho Falls is to Yellowstone/Grand Teton.

Louisville, KY

Richmond, VA. Similar size metros, riverfronts, quirky, crime and homeless issues, dense urban neighborhoods. Both have no professional sports and surrounded by much larger metros.

Parkersburg, WV

Muscatine, IA. Small, hilly Rust Belt cities on major rivers. The downtowns are a bit run-down but still have a lot of stuff open.

Wasilla, AK

I'd say Astoria, OR. Similar size and geography. Altoona PA?
