Affirming the evident, the American Institute of Architects recently judged Chicago the city with the finest architecture in the country. To take the obvious a bit further, Chicago holds more important buildings of the past century and a half than any other place in the world. And to look at it another way, Chicago's architecture constitutes one of this country's greatest contributions to modern civilization.

Don't even try to convince them. They can't stand to be #2 at anything. Dementor even said that the Taste of Chicago isn't an international event even though its known around the world for being the largest food festival.

They aren't #2 at much, but Chicago is #3 at everything since it took a back seat to Los Angeles decades ago.

Yes the past is given. Ok just by that article its like they didnt even compare anything to any other city. Chicagos supposed reign is over and New York is taking lead with many Amazing projects that were not chosen for Chicago. Yes there are some great buildings going up in chicago but there not as great as the ones going up in NY. There is barely any news on projects coming out of Chicago.

No one said that, that's an outright lie. Are you schizophrenic now? New York City is an International City. Everyone on here knows that. Why would anyone say it has no International Events...?

...Funny one. Chicago has a lot of planned Skyscrapers. After this recession is over, it will be completing many projects. I think NYC had one or two more planned than Chicago did. That's not even that good considering its a city of over 8.2 million verse a city just under 3 million.

To Big City Guy, Pittsburgh, and Dementor/Euros.

You guys are in a sinking ship. You come up with completely bogus arguments that hold no water what so ever, and argue them until there is nothing left to say except YOU HAVE INFERIORITY COMPLEX! Please, take a couple of weeks to think of something constructive to argue and maybe you'll have a slight shot at proving that New York is anywhere near Chicago's level on a city level. Internationally we already know NYC is larger, so don't come back with that. That topic has been beaten into the ground for the past 100 pages....but then again, so has this thread.

I can always count on my Chicago friends to make some absurd claims and make me laugh for about five minutes. Taste of Chicago according to this proud Chicagoan is "known around the world for being the largest food festival" which makes it an international event. He does not realize however that it rather puts Chicago in the same league as those towns claiming the world's largest potato, corncob or a shopping mall but it does not mean that the event is international. Let's put it this way, the largest cow slaughtering in the world, does not make this even international. It is the largest but not international.

Now, an international event, my friends, is an event that draws attention of international media and has some international/foreign participants. Again, US Open is an international event. Oscars are an international event. Taste of Chicago? What is international about it? Do you mean CNN or CBC covers the event end to end and restaurants from around the world are flying over their staffs to showcase their culinary masterpieces. Is this happening? Very funny. I am still laughing. Since you do not have any you guys do not even understand what consititutes an international event...

Taste of Chicago isn't an internationally known event. I have no idea what it is, nor do any of the people I know outside of the United States.

Yes. We all know those great Chicago newspapers with international circulation, we know it's great sport teams, headquartered national TV stations, Broadway, Wall Street, subway system and plethora of stars that are simply dying to live in Wicker Park.
Now, wake up.
