Chicago has a very vibrant progressive restaurant culture; one that NYC cannot even surpass. You have restaurants like Alinea, Schwa, Blackbird, Moto, L20 that are at the forefront of modern cuisine. Its experimenting more than New York. New York's High end scene really hasn't changed much, except maybe for the $$$ amount.

Which I guess is kind of like comparing the skylines. Chicago shows a great progressive mix of modern buildings, while New York continues to ride on the back of two old buildings. NYC skyline does "quantity" very well, though.

Cultural elite? Ha, they take a dump in the morning just like everyone else. Just because you're obsessed with them doesn't mean everyone should be.

Wow, so if they tak a dump in the morning it makes them less cutting edge in their respective areas? The thing is that to have or claim the world class theater you need celebrity actors and directors. If you want the best in food you need celebrity chefs. If you want the best in publishing you need celebrity writers. You need celebrity designers, singers and producers. And so on, you got it, right?
Celebrities surely take a dump like everyone else (I admire your eloquence, sir) but they also lead the way for the rest of us.
Keep in mind, if it was't not for New York's business (and media) celebrity like Donald Trump, Chicago's skyline would be even meaker than it is now...

Even Chicago's most famous resident was from NYC. That being Al Capone. Chicago even has to outsource gangsters!!!!.....

Yup. The "tough" Chicago had to be organized by a New Yorker

If it was not for Capone most people around the world would never heard of Chicago so Chicago owes its fame to New York.

You will come to realize that people could care less about where celebrities choose to live.

They choose New York and LA because that's where the major media companies are located.

So they choose those cities. Do you think if asked their opinion on Chicago they'd say it sucks simply because the don't live there?

My friend from Chicago must be lying. She must have some inferiority complex. She actually thinks that the ENTIRE Manhattan island would fit into Chicago's downtown . Also said how it would take like 10 Manhattan's to fill Chicago or something.

Trump's bankrupt again right, just like most of Wall Street? Your view on celebrities is why the rest of the world laughs at America. Lead the way for the rest of us? Maybe Sean Penn actually believes that...

When Van Gogh died, he had sold one painting and was relatively unknown.
