IMHO the Houston pics show strength, force, let's get done attitude. As opposed, to the Montreal picts. They depicts humility, steadiness, and let's take a break attitude. How do people get around there?
The Montreal skyline is nice and full but the Houston skyline has far more interesting architecture in its talls. Many more talls, more attractive, more color, texture, shapes and with the flat landscape way more of that soaring dramatic look imo.
I chose Montreal. I like stats as much of the next guy but can't deny Montreal the style points for setting, history and density. And a little something called character.
If we were comparing street level, "which city is more walk-able, European, more dense in it's downtown, more like the Northeastern US, more un-sunbelt like, more "intellectual", than I could see why Montreal would win. But if we're comparing skylines strictly skylines, than Houston wins this. I don't see how it wouldn't?

To me, Montreal's skyline is FAR more attractive looking. It may not have the height that Houston does, but in terms of being pretty, I'd take Montreal's skyline any day. Frankly, I think Houston has the second best skyline in its own state (Dallas is the best). Not very attractive despite the height and number of tall buildings.
Do any of you have ever been to Montreal or just repeat what they hear in forums & on TV...?
Montreal nightlife has the 3am curfeiw & it's just a couple of street, starting 10pm, the vast majority of the city is just dead...
A couple of streets? As mentioned above, St-Catherine, Crescent and St.Laurent are all swamped with large masses of partygoers, and they are out and about all day and all night, despite the 3AM last call. (Not a curfew, by the way. Lots of places stay open much later than that.)
Also, St-Catherine is a VERY LONG street. The stretch of clubs/bars/restaurants on that street alone is more than most major cities in NA.
I also forgot about another spot in the DT core: That area outside of Square Victoria (forget the street name.)
are you serious? I have a friend who lived in Tampa & said montreal night life is crap... I lived in london & find montreal night life being crap...
crescent street is small, you see just like 10 peoples on that street at 3am, i think you either never went to montreal or never went to a realy vibrant place
Someone from Tampa found Montreal boring?? LOL! I live in between Orlando and Tampa. Both cities are SORRY excuses for nightlife.
Montreal consistently ranks top 5 WORLDWIDE by tourist magazines for nightlife, often into mixed debates that include Miami and NYC.
Montreal is FAR more vibrant. 10 people at 3 AM on Crescent? When did you go? During a massive ice storm? Crescent is packed 24/7, so much that driving anywhere near it anytime after sunset is a major challenge.
That being said, for skyline, Houston's is nicer. Montreal flows better, but Houston's is just more impressive.
I don't think either of these cities have a standout skyline for their respective size and prominence....Houston may have the height but I find it very boring! Montreal seams to have a more eclectic variety in a prettier setting. I find the buildings in Montreal more attractive and seems more dense. The kicker for me is the skyline shots from Mont Royal!
I prefer Dallas' skyline to Houston as well.
