I never had the pleasure of spending any time in ATL, but i can tell you Center City Philadelphia is one of the FEW 24/7 downtowns in the country....
Also nightlife isnt exclusive to the Clubbin Scene......I find my taste to be a little more sophisticated then that....I like Upcale dinning, Wine Bars, Art and Poetry, Going to the Theater, etc.

Seriously though, What does Atl have that compares to South St? The Underground? I was there for a month last December & was downtown thinking that it was going to be a blast because of the masses of people out on the streets......
Uh, turns out that they were going to a hawks game so then there was hardly anyone out but a few people going ice skating.
Oh I saw a bunch of bums hanging out in a park about 30 feet from the underground. In the underground were some of the poorest, toothless wonders in the city..
I mean c'mon now who the hell wears pajamas & hair rollers downtown anywhere? It was nothing but a bunch of darn bars in the area & as I drove around there was a strip club every other block.. WOW (Who's into pimpin ho's the most?)
I went with my cousin to a couple of sports bars to watch a few games,
They're BIG into sports bars out there IMO, but they had the same drunk faced attitude as any other bar flys. Not too fun for me, especially chicks with gold grills.
I like Old city Art Galleries, Society Hill Resturants, Going to see a nice play, or a screening of a local producers film, maybe a local music artist listen party, or going up to Chestnut Hill/West Mt. Airy to watch a band play,
being out & about & people watching.
Philly has those things in abundance.
Third Tier:
toss up Atl, Philly, DC, (Don't know enough about Hou, DFW, Van)
Boston is also probably lower 3rd tier. Despite its reputation for being dominated by irish pubs and college bars. Probably a little below, Atl, DC and Philly.
NO is also probably up there somewhere. But, I always think of that as a niche player.

You obviously didnt know where to go if you went to Underground when you came here. Downtown Atlanta is the hood, Midtown Atlanta is basically our central business district. The simple fact you went downtown tells me that whoever showed you around was either ghetto, or didnt know of anything here.
The only people who go to Underground are high school kids, homeless people and goons looking to rob somebody. Most people in Atlanta really are scared to stiff to go to Underground, especially after dark. Maybe next time you come to the A you should try and visit the Virgina Highlands which is very comparable to South Street, actually its a little bit bigger as there are bars and clubs on more than one single street in the area. You also have Little 5 Points, not as big as Va-High or South Street, but there are some bars in that area too. Then you have Peters St, which is a strip full of lounges, bars, clubs and restaurants for the black young, and professional crowd- That scene does not even exist in Philly!!!! Then you have Crescent Ave, which is full of bars, clubs, and lounges. And thats not even touching the multitudes of clubs spread around the city. And strip clubs, of course, this is Atlanta, thats what we are famous for. I wouldnt dare go to a strip club in Philly, I would rather watch porn on the internet than to see watch those very average to unattractive females in Philly strip. And chicks with gold grills??? Seriously when did you come down here in 1997???? I have not seen a female with gold teeth since I was a freshman in high school. Not to mention that I am assuming that you are black, and the black females in Atlanta look waaaaaaayy better than the black chicks in Philly. I would actually go so far as to say that Philly had some pretty busted looking females, they can dress, but thats about it. No black man alive in America today will say Philly has better looking sistas than Atlanta

Seeing as though most of you live vicariously thru your online alias's, I decided to use a street term for mine. youngMichealJackson is a term we use around my way to refer to a black person, since young Mike was black, and the old Mike was a white woman. Get it???? Nothing was taken personal, trust ! But in all honesty I find people who have kids that they dont want by endulging in behavior like that are extremely stupid. JUST WRAP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I have had my fair share of both to know that white girls are just as promiscuous as black girls. The difference is that white girls get abortions!!! And the lack of family structure in the black community has more to do with other factors (which I wont delve into at this time) than it does with the reasons you mentioned. HIV as well, that is due more to dudes going to prison and the negative stigma of being gay in the black community than someone out being single and doing what they do.
