Dayton OH has the best nightlife/party scene in my area, underestimating Louisville is a big mistake.

Oregon District's Fifth Street one of Top 5 in U.S. | Dayton

I know every city can party, blah blah blah but here you go:

1. Las Vegas
2. New Orleans
3. Montreal
4. New York
5. Miami
6. Nashville
7. Austin
8. Chicago
9. Los Angeles
10. Atlanta
In general I agree. I would rank Miami a little lower and I think you could make the argument that Atlanta should be replaced by D.C.

Key West has a lot less options and none of their 'nightclubs' are really that upscale. But, as a local, Miami's night life scene is very expensive and tedious. Always fighting lines, paying ridiculous cover charges, looking for connections to get you inside. It's a city really designed for tourists who want to spend a lot of money in a short period of time. Perhaps this is their bachelor party or stag night, NYE, or just celebrating their graduation. So I'm with you on preferring KW, no lines, almost never cover charges, and less pretentious.

But I'd never advocate someone KW over Miami for a nightlife experience.

Most of the clubs I can think of in Brooklyn opened up less than 5 years ago.

Manhattan may have lost some but most of those closed a long time ago.

Does Louisville have any clubs yet?

That's just your opinion. I didn't find Nashville's nightlife scene to be wild and crazy fun. Entertaining, yes.

Have you been to Montreal? One of the best nightlifes in North America. Miami is wilder, but just because it Miami doesn't mean it has the best nightlife.

Its more the megaclubs that are closing... those days are behind us, but the club/ bar scene is pretty healthy throughout New York. Some nightlife in Manhattan has become incredibly pretentious, but the nightlife is still there.
