Right. But Hartsfield Jackson is the region's main hub with maybe Charlotte coming in second.

The TT's largest hub is DFW which might not be as busy as Hartsfield Jackson. But when you throw Bush Interncontinental in there, I think the scales have to tip slightly toward the TT when it comes ti airport presence. Plus, San Antonio and Austin are no slouches either.

I guess the only way to really compare is to compare TT VS PAM in regards to airport activity is to actually look at the numbers. I guess O&D, passengers, daily activity, etc. I wish LAnative was here. This is his specialty. I would assume TT would win but you never know.

While I am not a Airport expert, and bow to LAnative to give hard numbers if he/she wants to , if you go to wikipedia and add up some of the numbers it normally show

Atlanta+Charlotte > DFW+Houston Intercontinental.

ATL has almost 10% more traffic movement than DFW, and Houston Intercontinental is only slightly higher than Charlotte Douglass; and the gap between ATL and DFW is would brings PAM higher than TT in Airport Traffic

I salute thee Mgyeldell. Lol! Thanks for the link. I knew the distance betweem couldn't have been that much. And I don't see San Antonio and Austin having mmore traffic than RDU, Upstate, Birmingham, and Triad combined.

I wonder how the merger with Continental and United will affect Houston's Intercontinental Airport ( refuse to call it bush).

lol, i used to tell myself that i refuse to call their airport "bush" ; but when you work at the airport and you have to reference that location quite often, saying "IAH" or "intercontinental" can be a little tiresome, so you just have to get over it and say BUSH

i really wish the airport would've been named after lyndon b. johnson. "LBJ" sounds just as distinguished as JFK

edit: and i just found out that LBJ is the airport code for the komodo airport in indonesia, so nevermind lol

According to Airports Council International, here's how the airports fared in 2009 in terms of passengers:

Piedmont
ATL- 88,032,086 (#1) Atlanta
CLT- 34,536,666 (#11) Charlotte
RDU- 8,973, 209 (#41) Raleigh-Durham
BHM- 2,934,317 (#79) Birmingham
GSO- 1,714,424 (#94) Greensboro

Combined Traffic: Over 136 million passengers

TX Triangle
DFW- 56,030,457 (#4) Dallas-Ft. Worth
IAH- 40,007,354 (#8) Houston
HOU- 8,498,441 (#45) Houston
AUS- 8,220,898 (#47) Austin
SAT- 7,831,267 (#50) San Antonio
DAL- 7,744,522 (#52) Dallas

Combined Traffic: Over 128 million passengers

*Only looked for the top 100 airports, if you think I missed one, look at the table.
*Atlanta's airport is obviously too immense for the major TX Triangle airports to overtake

^^^ Interesting in that I didnt realize that CLT was as close as it was to IAH in volume - though I believe it is the largest hub in terms of passenger volume for US Air

Which is what I think the new United could be for Houston.

Even though it's not in the top 100, I think GSP (Greenville-Spartanburg Int'l) is worthy of mention since it's the airport for a region of 1.2 million. It had 1.258 million passengers in 2009.
