When discussing ports, you have to be VERY specific talking about it. The TT by far has the strongest seaport presence. But the Piedmont has a very strong Airport presence maybe even a slight edge on the TT when it comes to that presence considering how powerful the Atlanta airport is. Now the inland port is maybe equal. I know Dallas is developing a very large intermodel inland port in South Dallas which is in connection with the Houston seaports.

yes, the texas triangle cities are more major and populous, but they're far too spaced out. not to mention the triangle is filled in by nothing but small towns and open land

to me, a megalopolis should be a chain of a handful of cities within relatively short distance from each other
I agree

These are future megapolises
  1. Which one do you think would come to actualization first?
  2. How would you imagine them like?
  3. Which one would you rather live in and why?
1. Piedmont
2. ?
3. Texas Triangle

Aside from Atlanta, not much else I'd rather live in in the Piedmont, but they're all nice cities.

I might agree with this statement if you were just comparing Bush or DFW to Hartsfield-Jackson. I know ATL is the busiest (or is it the largest...or is the largest O'Hare...regardless) airport in the nation but I don't know that it's enough to sustain an entire megalopolis region. Like I said, ATL strategically trumps Bush and DFW but I don't know that ATL trumps Bush and DFW when you consider their combined impact on the TT.

I'd be interested to see numbers on this. I'm just speculating...

I definitely see your point, and it is indeed valid. Charlotte is also ranked among the top busiest airports in the nation and world. I'll have to get back to you with the exact rankings. The RDU airport is also going through an expansion. Upstate, Triad, and Bham, I can't really comment on because I don't. Overall, even with the big 4 in TT, the airport battle is a dog fight.

DFW airport serves its region the same way Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport serves its region. Having the world busiest airport is more for bragging rights more than anything.
