Hi. We are buying a house in St. James and have some questions:
Our house comes with a transfer of the old type of Premier membership. I am familiar with the Clubs and know we are limited to Members, Founders, and Players facilities. Does this mean that we cannot eat/drink at the Reserve even if we were with friends who were Signature members and they were paying? We know we can upgrade to Signature, but might not want/need to as I don't golf and DH is more of a boater. I assume we cannot use Seaside pool with Premier?
Also, what if my mother comes to live with us full-time in the future. How would the membership work for her. The house and Club membership would be in our names, but I would want her to be able to go to the indoor pool, fitness, etc. Is there some type of "permanent house resident" inclusion? If not, if there a way for her to buy in for pool/fitness/social? No golf or tennis. Thanks so much. StJ has been a dream of DH's for 10 years! We have been visiting and have met so many nice people over the years. We are looking forward to being part of the STJ community. Elaine

Elaine, I would simply call Membership Services directly and ask your questions.

I believe the contact person is Becky Jones, and her phone number is 910.253.9500, extension 2.

My wife and I bought a lot in SJP and will be building in 2019. What kind of boating does your husband enjoy, power, sail, fishing? I am looking to get into salt water fishing with retirement, and it appears the fishing is excellent in the area.

Good luck!

Steve V

You can take guests to Clubs you are a member of and you can be a guest of members to Clubs you are not a member of.

St. James Place: Very, very expensive. And yes, so it seems, always some drama going on...seems to be a requirement to 'find something get exercised about.' My friends from Fairfax, Va moved there ten years ago, after 3 years put their house up for sale, took over 2 years to get a decent offer....It is a beautiful community however, Oak Island is nearby and the beaches. I would make the exploratory trip -BUT, many more great, lower cost housing opportunities in that area. Better be married to golf, talking about golf (women and men), and of course, 'listening to how we did it back home'. Pretty area down there.

The number of available lots in SJP is shrinking noticeably (building is everywhere)! Vacant lots will soon be at a significant premium; actually it's already happened!

Gator, exact same thing we noticed when we were down there a couple months ago. We decided to buy a lot now, when we had our choice of location and sun angle to keep the home as cool as possible. I was afraid if we waited another year we would be looking at re-sales and "leftovers".

I was pretty stunned how fast it was filling out, which is terrific for the Community.

Is Wyndmere open all the way to Oceanic yet? If not, have they said when to expect completion?

@Escaper

I think buying a lot today, whether you build or not, is a very good investment. If you decide to build, all the better! Ignoring some of the intentionally silly or unknowingly ignorant comments, this is an incredible/premier community. How many communities do you know of this quality on the east coast in a temperate climate with 4.5 championship golf courses? Nuff said!!
