No other coach has done less with more that Brown has these past three seasons.

If he doesn't fire Diaz after the horrible job he's done, then Mack is certainly on the bubble next year, one BCS championship & two very near misses notwithstanding.

DeLoss Dodds needs to retire ASAP.

Yesterday's near loss to the worst team in D1 football was pathetic and embarassing.

As ESPN put it, "This Texas team has no soul".

I think Mack was a great recruiter. When he arrived at Texas, he transformed the recruiting process to secure early commits. While other schools were scheduling their player visits for January, Mack already had his top players verbally committed and not taking other trips. He killed other schools in the region. RC Slocum for example was left flat footed with all the top players in Texas already gone. Mack is adored by parents of players because he is so persuasive and so good at selling Texas.

But I think now that his process is no longer unique. Everyone has camps in the summer for kids barely in high school. And they identify players when they are still early in their HS careers.

I think where Mack may be falling short is in player evaluation. I don't think he and his staff are very good at that on all but the superstars (like Jonathan Gray). He gets lots of kids with high ratings, but he gets too many lazy prima donnas dazzled by the show Texas puts on.

Diaz has to go for sure. What hot D-Coordinator should they bring in?

Muschamp? Oh wait, he's a HC. LOL. Couldn't resist.

The real question is what team is going to step up and give Kirby Smart a chance @ HC? He's probably worth a few million at least. Wonder where he ends up? He will win.

I think that will be effective only if you get ND's front seven. ND's pass defense was pretty average, but their run defense is the real deal. Tough and precision tackling.

It's pretty obvious that Hyple left the run game pretty early and just decided to throw the underneath stuff. Different ball game if they stretch out Brown and Stills more downfield.

Well, any run of the mill DC would be an improvement over Diaz.

Maybe Chizik will be available soon?

I think Chizik's hot seat is scalding hot right now. He may have been tight with Pat Dye, but there's only so much Dye's rep can do to save him. People in Auburn are beginning to feel like the 2010 title game was a fluke, and it's hard to argue with them.

Maybe the problem is not player recruiting, but player development. That's, after all, what the three/four years at college are supposed to do for the top recruits. It's supposed to take athleticism and turn it into a skill set that makes a player ready potentially for the NFL combine and possibly a draft selection. Player development is a hard thing to maintain, as assistants and coordinators are always coming and going. That might be why Mack's not getting it done.
